Cities over 500,000:
Safest 10
San Jose, CA El Paso, TX Honolulu, HI New York, NY Austin, TX San Diego, CA Louisville, KY San Antonio, TX Fort Worth, TX Jacksonville, FL
Most Dangerous 10:
Detroit, MI Baltimore, MD Washington, DC Memphis, TN Dallas, TX Philadelphia, PA Columbus, OH Nashville, TN Houston, TX Charlotte, NC
Columbus among 10 most dangerous?
Surely I would have thought Cleveland would be worse!
NY most certainly is on the list. #4 safest.
Thank you, Rudy!
Ooh...very good! I hope Blackwell's a lurker.
Cleveland tops out at 490k I think but the metro area makes it twice the size of Columbus.
Even today Detroit has about 900k.
A tale of two cities. Ft. Worth is one of the safest; Dallas one of the least safe. Follow the politics of each for any periond of time and you soon learn why.
Ft. Worth is where the West begins. Dallas is where the East peters out. Not really surprising at all. Tarrant County, where Ft. Worth is located, elected a former Arlington Texas police officer to the position of sheriff. Dallas County elected a former prison guard.
I'll also say that I think San Jose has a good police department.
We used to live in South San Jose near a major high school. The kids would be having loud parties and walking around our yard carrying their alchohol.
When we'd complain, the police would come right over and clear out the parties.
They are very quick and responsive.
In cities with both a high crime rate and high minority populations -- MANY crimes go unreported by the citizens or the Police...
Some police administrators attempt to keep the "Official" rate low - to reflect more positively on THEIR performance...
Semper Fi
because detroit is the craziest city there is.Trust me i live it.
