CNN MARKS CHENEY: NETWORK FLASHES 'X' OVER VP'S FACE DURING LIVE SPEECH
**Exclusive**
At 11:04:45 AM ET Monday CNN was airing Vice President Dick Cheney's speech live from the American Enterprise Institute in Washington -- when a large black 'X' repeatedly flashed over the vice president's face!
The 'X' over Cheney's face appeared each time less than a second, creating an odd subliminal effect.
As this DRUDGE REPORT screen capture reveals, while one 'X' flashed over Cheney's face CNN ran a headline at the bottom of its screen: "CHENEY: I DO NOT BELIEVE IT IS WRONG TO CRITICIZE."
One top White House source expressed concern about what was aired over CNN.
"Is someone in Atlanta trying to tell us something?"
A CNN spokesman did not return repeated calls late Monday night.
Developing...
Yup. Definitely says "to black". At first I thought "to blame", but that's a c and it looks like a k after.
You are right. It looks like something written over the white letters in the background.
Good find ... I really hope it isn't "Dick Cheney hates black people".
I'm not buying TVNewser's explaination. I used to do television production in the Air Force for Armed Forces Television many years ago. Nothing gets on the air unless it is put up some where as a video source and the video switcher selects it and puts it in the program bank. It's possible the "X" could have made it into the video signal chain somewhere down the line from the switcher...but what are they doing with a large black "X" available as a video source and it appears to be positioned just so as to do a good job obstructing the VP's image. Sorry I think either someone was screwing around or put the "X" on the air on purpose.
I keep watching for someone to figure out the wording of the letters at the bottom...
If you learn the meaning...Ping me OK?
Now, now, they are a group of solid professionals who adhere to a strict code of ethics and should be respected as such...snicker.
Colmes is a leftist. Whaddaya expect?
OK, it's not a huge expose. But in 50 years of watching TV I've had the sound go off, the picture go off, the picture go fuzzy. But when have you seen a huge X and why did it get there? :)
Remember earlier this year they had that news with the page title "Hell freezes over" or something. It was a story about Bush.
Thank you.
Here is the text section resampled 10:1 if anybody want to take a better look.

You show two red boxes, but chances are there are words straight across, just white on white in between the boxes.
Yeah. What a crock.
There is something besides that. It is in black, but I cant make out what it is or says.
That's in THEIR world. What about the real one? ;)

I know you were being sarcastic about it being "an honest mistake", but since this happened repeatedly, they can hardly claim it was an accident or a mistake.
Also, FCC does NOT tolerate subliminal messages on TV?
Subliminal perception has been a persistent issue at the Commission spanning over 35 years but it has seldom required significant amounts of Commission time and resources. That is largely because the Commission's stand on the issue has been clear and consistent.
The FCC's position is that the use of such techniques involves intentional deception and, thus, is inconsistent with a licensee's obligation to broadcast in the public interest. The Commission defines subliminal projection as a technique of projecting information below the threshold of sensation or awareness.
They're too comfortable in their lives to do the deed themselves, so they try to provoke the next Hinckley or Chapman.
I wouldn't tune into CNN for love or money. Nothing they do in error, nor on purpose, would surprise me in the least.
Wonderful! I am LOL at you comment...then realized it was so true it wasn't funny!!
There is no 'perp'. . .CNN has explained it was a 'glitch'.
"I'd like more." --yes, me too. is there any question that an apology is in order? civilized people make apologies when they foul up.
