Basically- the GOP called the donkey's on their anti-war, Bush lied, leave Iraq now rhetoric...and called for a vote for support of the war...taking place tonight.

DId you see that???? So the troops can't talk for themselves- He speaks for the troops?? He said HE speaks for the troops- they don't speak for themselves....Well at least he is being honest now... as far as the dems go- troops can NOT vote or think for themselves..... WOWO!!! Murtha needs to be removed from office. THat statement could have been the reason we are looking at this vote....

Ever watched the Senate in action? From the Gallery? The mob work takes place behind the doors.....but, it's interesting to watch people running (well, sauntering) in and out whilst they try to figure out who's voting what, and how they can maneuver whatever!

I take it this a resolution to pull troops out of Iraq. So if the 'no' vote wins, I would think the question dies here in the House.

Unfortunately, I joined the thread after that information had been shared - and I didn't go back yet to reread it. But they are saying it is being driven by J.D.Heyworth - who said let's have the votes put on record for supporting the troops. God bless J.D. Heyworth.

Somebody will fill us in. They are going to have debate and then the vote so if we don't have anything else to do tonight, we should be able to decipher it from the cspan telecast.

So CSPAN just said that they will return with 1 hour of debate on the "rules" vote, and then vote.

I heard Charley Rangel turn down an appearance on Hannity & Colmes today, because he wanted to catch the last flight out at 9:00. Looks like he'll be missing it.

John Murtha Urged Iraq Pullout Last Year
NewsMax ^ | November 18, 2005 | Carl Limbacher

Posted on 11/18/2005 1:12:55 PM EST by Kaslin

The press is pretending that Rep. John Murtha had been a longtime, staunch supporter of the Iraq war right up until yesterday's "shocking reversal," when the Pennsylvania Democrat abruptly called for an immediate U.S. pull out.

In fact, Murtha began advocating a cut-and-run strategy way back in May 2004 - after U.S. forces had been in Iraq just a little more than a year.

Standing at the time next to San Francisco-based House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi - who was last seen defending her city's decision to ban military recruiters from public school property - the allegedly pro-war Murtha proclaimed that the Iraq war was "unwinnable."

"We have to either mobilize or get out [and] I don't know that we have the will to mobilize," he declared 18 months ago.

Peacenik Pelosi was delighted at the time - showing off her new catch as if Murtha was a prize-winning poodle.

"He is one of the most recognized experts on defense in the country," she boasted. "And no one has worked harder to meet the needs of our troops."

Of course, one of the troops' most compelling needs is support of their mission on the home front.

And Murtha very publicly yanked his support a long time ago.

I've had more e-mails and phone calls from other military families this week than I've had since the first month of the war...we are FURIOUS and letters and calls are flying to D.C. from us.

Ditto here. Military families are freaking out, I can tell you that. I can only hope the House Republicans have been getting the phone calls and getting the message. They'd better not back out tonight. But I'm not terribly hopeful.

This vote is forcing congresscritters to go on the record as favoring immediate withdrawal (surrender) of the troops in Iraq.

Or not. Either way it isn't good for them.
