That wasn't my point.
First, the number of innocent people who actually go to trial for criminal offenses is practically zero.
Second, whether the defendant is innocent or not there is no reason to consciously subvert the legal process through dishonesty.
If he was truly innocent, then the defense attorney's job would be to redouble his efforts to to exonerate his client on the evidence. Not to use sneaky tactics to undermine the American legal system.
When that video first hit the news, I showed it to my oldest daughter (now 14) and had the difficult duty to show her what NOT to do: to NOT just go along with a monster. I told her to scream, yell, kick, hit, bite, run, make as much noise and be as violent against anyone trying to take her as possible. I let her know that this beautiful trusting girl must have believed everything would be okay if she did exactly what this monster said. And the monster took advantage and her life, as all monsters will do if you give them the chance.
I have little doubt they will sentence him to death. This was so brutal and premeditated - the bastard will fry. I just hope it's soon, not 15 years down the road.
I have little doubt he will receive the death penalty. And I feel for this monster's 3 daughters. What they must be going through... praying for them.
You're both great parents. Hugs and smooches to both of you. Kids need to learn how to fight-- DIRTY, VERY DIRTY - in these situations. Whatever it takes.

Let's see. A young girl walking home from her friends house is accosted by a stranger who takes her by the arm and leads her away never to be seen again alive. He rapes and murders this young person.

I hear ya. With evidence this overwhelming, I find it Foolish that he be allowed to live past Christmas.
Her mother just said she would like to see him sentneced and have it carried out right then. I would have to agree with her. I see no reason to wait even a minute.

Personally, I'm hoping that some of his fellow inmates save the government the trouble. A little shank between the ribs should do the trick...
Cons are cons, but even the most hardened of them don't like child rapists!
