November 16, 2005 -- ALBANY Republican Senate hopeful Jeanine Pirro refused yesterday to back President Bush's selection of Samuel Alito for the Supreme Court, in part because of Alito's past anti-abortion views. The refusal by Pirro, who backs abortion rights, drew a quick condemnation from state Conservative Party leader Mike Long, whose support Pirro has been aggressively seeking. "I'm assuming Jeanine supported Bush for president and, therefore, she should be out front supporting the president's nominee for the Supreme Court because we know Hillary Clinton is going to vote 'no,' " Long said. Pirro, the outgoing Westchester district attorney, wants to "wait and see the Senate confirmation hearings" before making up her mind on Alito, said spokeswoman Andrea Tantaros. "She wants to hear the tough questions, and she wants to hear the answers on a wide spectrum of issues," Tantaros said.

Out of curiosity, why do people put an exclamation point after Hillary's name? Who started this trend?
She ain't very bright, is she?
Pirro cerainly has distinguished herself...
...as an idiot married to a criminal.
Doesn't matter as she will never be in the Senate anyway. Just as well I guess.
What a decisive leader. /sarcasm
And I don't know if I can commit to showing up to vote in Nov 06.
Pirro = 1919 Black Sox
...as an idiot married to a criminal.
So she's still not distinguishing herself from Hillary?
If you don't think there is a HUGE difference between a RINO like Snowe and Collins versus Hitlery and Shoomie, you've never lived in a state like NY. You've never looked at the difference in the record/ ratings that various "scorecard" organizations have put out. You must have lived your whole life in TX or NB, etc.
If we could somehow manage to replace about 8 Blue State Demodogs with RINOs who might vote somewhat conservative even a third of the time, the whole country would be far better off, and far better, more conservative, legislation would be passed.
Really? I wouldn't.
I guess this brings a new meaning to demonizing Hillary.
My sentiments exactly! When will RINOs ever learn? You can't out lib a lib.
If you think republicans in NY have any intention of running a serious candidate against Clinton, you're mistaken. Pirro is a joke.
Another non-starter.
If you think any candidate who is not at least "moderate" like Pirro will ever win statewide in NY, you're mistaken.
If you believe that anyone even moderately conservative will ever win in NY State for the forseeable future, you're completely bonkers.
It won't happen. The best that can be done is to challenge the far left Demodogs with some "moderate" - thus Bloomberg, Gulianni, Pataki, etc... They may be very frustrating to those of us who would like someone with more committment to conservative values, but they are far less destructive to our nation and the state than the Demodogs.
During the 2000 NY Senate race, Hillary! plastered the state with signs that said "Hillary!", and nothing else. With the breathless coverage she got in the media at the time, the boldface/exclamation point treatment was not far from what you could see in any media outlet. Thus, Hillary!.
