Mary Mapes Names Names ("Anonymous" Ones)
Posted by Bill
An excerpt from page 201 of her new book:
Within minutes of Buckhead's original posting, Freepers began to repeat and embellish Buckhead's thoughts. Not surprisingly, they all agreed with him, they all agreed with one another, and they all agreed this should be pursued aggressively. Freethinkers they are not. The Freepers and their lockstep like-minded fellow travelers moved as a group, like a school of sharks sweeping toward an unaware and unarmed victim. CBS was like some sunburned, overweight Florida tourist with a cut foot, floundering and flapping in the water alone in the surf. The Freepers swarmed CBS not because it was right or fair but because they could. On Web sites such as Powerline, INDC Journal, Allahpundit, and Spacetownusa, the bravehearts of the blogging world worked anonymously in what appeared to be huge numbers, in unison, to destroy the Bush-Guard story, to uphold one another's wild and hateful claims, to outshout, outargue, and outblog anyone who dared to disagree. And on their Web sites there is no disagreement. They hate in unison, they speak with one angry voice, they each make themselves bigger by staying as close together as possible.

Oh my goodness, she must have taken writing lessons from Matt Cooper.OMG, I'd forgotten about that!
Maybe they were classmates at the Edward Bulwer-Lytton School of Fiction Writing...
"...I was wet, smelling of chlorine. It was July 12, 2003, in Washington, a beautiful summer day, and I had just come back from swimming. All morning I had been trying to reach I. Lewis (Scooter) Libby for a cover story about both President George W. Bush's claim that Iraq had sought uranium in Africa and former Ambassador Joseph Wilson's controversial Op-Ed...Eventually I raced home without showering in order to take Libby's call. When he finally reached me at around 3 p.m., we spoke for a few minutes as I sprawled on my bed."

"Beauty is only skin deep. Ugly goes to the bone."
One thing that is as reliable as the Sunrise on FR. Get a fact wrong, you are going to get called on it. Lie, and someone is going to cut you off at the knees. The lack of that simple quality is what makes DU so absurd.

There once was a journo named Mapes,
Who made lying videotapes,
Fake memos she spread,
Was caught by a Buckhead,
And now she's all sour grapes.
Wow, excellent. What creative people you can find on FR.

Not a 702 but did use those typewriters. Some of the wording also had many of us immediately saying something wasn't right about those documents. Mapes acts like only journalists are qualified to speak with any credibility as to any document's status. It's almost like they don't believe that veterans, especially ones familiar with military admin do exist.
Buckhead pointed out the main things, by using believable evidence. Mapes and See BS did some of the most sloppy journalism ever and were caught. So she's now blaming the people who caught her. She chose poorly. These people don't live in the real world.

I'll hand them an anvil and lead them to the nearest cliff.

Oh well. What's the good in being a deranged and irrelevant tramp if you don't act like one? Thanks for being genuine Mapes.

Anyhow, it's still not certain the cause was a Spanish mine or sabotageIt *has* been determined, by examination of the wreckage of the USS Maine, that the hull breach, below the waterline, was caused by a detonation from within the Maine, leaving out any possibility of a "mine". While this does not conclusively prove that the Spanish government had no culpability in the sinking, it does tend to put that into an extremely remote likelihood. The Maine was most likely an accident, the Spanish government not involved, and the Spanish-American War of 1898 declared under questionable circumstances, at best...

If she really BELIEVES that FReepers all think alike, she has NEVER, ever even seen this website.
And if having CBS News machine behind her made her "unarmed," she thinks we're all incredibly stupid.
What a lying POS. Crybaby too.

I don't think she's delusional or even misinformed. I think she knows what happened, how it happened, who did it, and who pushed the idea. She knows what's real.
She is spreading propaganda and disinformation, in a continuing effort to drag Bush and Republicans down. If she can smear one of the most potent Web political forces and diminish its credibility, that's just sauce; if she can generate more lefty hate and intolerance, she's being effective. The Old Media is colluding with her, and now she has the excuse of a propaganda book to help her promote more bogus ideas.
For instance, more than a year later, she seems unaware that there are time zones in the US, so if someone in California posted something 2 1/2 hours after she did, the time stamp would be 1/2 hours earlier than hers (if you didn't look at the zone).
She knows what she's doing just like Sheehan and Moveon know.

She's a typical Leftist: She can do no wrong.
Reminds me of Hillary and that Clintonian ability to "compartmentalize" --the ability to believe two opposite things at the same time.
