Soros-Backed Reforms Fail in Ohio
News Max ^ | Nov. 8, 2005 | Carl Limbacher

Posted on 11/09/2005 5:53:37 AM PST by conservativecorner

A group of election reforms backed by liberal Daddy Warbucks George Soros has crashed and burned in Ohio, leaving Democrats unable to capitalize on a year's worth of complaints that the state's 2004 presidential vote was rigged.

Voters soundly rejected the four Soros-backed proposals, which would have overhauled the way Ohio runs its elections.

The initiatives would have opened absentee balloting to all voters, lowered the cap on individual campaign contributions and put boards, instead of elected officials, in charge of drawing legislative and congressional districts and overseeing the state's elections, according to the Associated Press.

With 25 percent of the returns tallied, the AP said the absentee ballot question was trailing 61-to-39 percent; the campaign contribution cap was losing 64-to-36 percent; and redistricting and election oversight were both trailing 67-to-33 percent.

Story Continues Below

A coalition of unions and other Democrat-leaning groups organized under the name Reform Ohio Now wanted to wrest control of elections from Republican state officeholders. Critics said the ballot measures would empower special interests and encourage fraudulent voting.

According to Ohio's Journal News, three of RON's major donors are organizations funded by Soros.

It's the only good news on a bad day, but it's very good news and very important. If we won everywhere else but lost here, this day would have been worse than it actually turned out.

"Tell us how we can defeat Hackett in his primary race."

Unfortunately, the other RAT candidate is no better. I just hope a REAL conservative runs against DeRINO in a GOP primary and wins! Too bad we can't clone Blackwell and have him run in both the senate and governor's races!

They will try to circumvent the election mandate.

They may, I suppose. Parachuting A-list legal mechanics into these "unfortunate situations," where the voters make the "wrong" choice, does happen. Doesn't always work though, and our side has access to some pretty good lawyers too.

Also, their A-list people may be tied up in Texas. The voters there made the "wrong" choice on whether two men legally marry. This may take priority with the lefties.

A depressed Californian reacting to good news from another state with a smile.

You might want to get out of that hell hole state while you can. God will be zapping it in a Katrina-like fashion any day now. Evil and hedonism continue to flourish while truth, liberty and religion is disappearing at alarming rates.

Don't think Hackett stands a chance against the heavily union backed socialist Sherrod Brown in that primary.

Unlike our party the Rats never stop fighting, we can not ignor the loses in VA. and NJ when clearly the elections were bought, at least in NJ. We are going to see a lot more of this walk around money next year.

and another proud NO to 1-5 voter!

Sadly, Dayton reelected Mayor McLin! We did not have much a choice though, we could vote for the Dem or the Dem.

Just don't get too complacent - 1-5 will soon be coming to a federal court with a hand-picked leftist judge near you. These people never give up.
