Official Election Day 2005 Watch [Live Thread]
Shameless Vanity Post | November 8, 2005 | BillyBoy

Posted on 11/07/2005 11:46:41 PM PST by BillyBoy

My Fellow FReepers,

As it now past midnight (well at least for those of us in Central Standard Time) and I did a general search and couldn't find a single thread dedicated to election 2005, I have taken the liberty of creating one.

THIS is the place to post all your updates and discussions on '05 races around the country. From the Boston Mayoral Race to the fight for Virginia Attorney General, keep the adrenaline flowing here.

Will the GOP make a midterm gubernatorial comeback after suffering through the 2001 "mistakes" of McGreeley and Mark Warner? Will Ahnuld, the CA Dummycrats, or independent minded conservatives emerge triumph in California's latest (but not greatest!) "special election"? Will the liberal incumbent crush his equally liberal challenger in New York? And do conservatives even care?

Let's get the discussion rolling folks. You heard it here first!

Menendez will be installed to replace a retiring Lautenberg.

Has Lautenberg announced that he is retiring?

I know they were sucessful. But in politics, perception is more important than reality. The reality & perception were aligned. That's all I meant.

you can forget about winning a NJ senate seat.

one person who would have a chance, Bernard Kerik, if he did run, you would see the same conservatives who savaged him when he was up for DHS - do the same for his Senate bid.

GOP Senators should be acting as the President's surrogates;

Why should the legislative branch do the executive branch's work.

It's GWB's legacy, he and his surrogates in the executive branch can't expect anyone else to carry his water. The buck stops, well you know where.

Frank Jackson is Cleveland City Council president. He has most of the black support on the east side, and a good chunk of the west side (white) vote as well. No major scandals for Campbell, just a general perception that Cleveland is devoid of leadership. Ranking #1 as the poorest city in the U.S. a couple of years ago hurt too.

"why, Hillary will get 95% of the african american vote anyway. why pick Obama, to get 98%? Hispanics are the key."

I think you're right. I predict she'll pick Bill Richardson from NM- -he was in their Admin, tries to be a 'moderate', even though he says he's happy as Gov, will get the western vote (so she/they thinks), I think he has higher goals, and he is Hispanic.

You REALLY need to get out more. Pssst. Things are going GREAT with the GOP the past week. Maybe you need to move to a red State that's actually elected a real republican in the past 100 years. If your name refers to where you are, I'm not surpried you don't think it's going so well. Do you really think it's going so well for liberals? Come on! 8) Join the conservative reality! PLEASE!!! 8) The happenings of the past week speak for themselves. It's obvious if you could get off your polling high horse. 8)

Amen! Based on polls, Reagan was a one term duck.

Obama's huge majority had a lot to do with the fact that he was heavily campaigning in previously neglected areas (southern Illinois) while the Republicans were still looking for a candidate. And there are a lot more Hispanic conservatives than African-American conservatives so the Democrats would be better off with someone like Bill Richardson.

I live in The Silver State, Nevada.

Clearly there is a disconnect between reality and your perceptions.

Great post my fellow freepers.

He who lives by the polls will die by the polls, ask the 1% of Democrats who still have a functioning brain and they will tell you so.

And if Bush's approval are 25% this time next year, you should care, especially if voter discontent means losing both houses of congress.

They'd have to bump up the Dem sample to 70% to get that....

"unreal, NJ will have Corzine as governor and two unelected US senators."

And the left cries that Bush stole the election and doesn't represent the electorate?!?!

Has Lautenberg announced that he is retiring?

His fate is tied to that of Lenin. If they decide Lenin needs to be buried, then Lautencadaver also gets planted.

All 4 Ohio issues (2-5) sponsered by out of state leftists groups are losing, some of them handily.

Not only did they lose..they are getting kicked right smack in the marbles while onlookers laugh.
