Point taken. The basic vdare theory that they posted was that some cultures encourage their least intelligent to have the most children, but that cultures with the highest average IQ's tend to prosper more.

...but then they got caught up trying to explain why cultures with higher average IQ's such as Vietnam were backwaters, economically.

"When I was a youngster we shot quail like that.... locate a covey and shoot there heads off one by one using a 22 cal rifle with a home made silencer.(hope the statue of limitations has expired)"

The legal hassles of silencers aren't worth the risk...especially since merely removing the powder from a 22 round and firing the shot by primer alone works better than a silencer and is legal in all 50 states.

Perhaps what the writer meant was their mindset when they're on duty.

Thank you! He has done some interesting stuff. Granted, it is likely that no two studies will be exactly alike, but Richard Lynn is close:

Average arab IQ is 80, and average Israeli IQ is 95 or so. In the battle of wits, arabs lose.

Where's that fellow who set up remote-control deer hunting, so you could shoot a deer from the comfort of your PC screen? Rummy should give him a ring so that some of us back home can contribute to the war effort.

There have already been a few, but one anecdote I've heard had a the terrorists using a favorite sniping spot a little too often, so a Marine squad decided to send the enemy a message. The next time someone started sniping from the position, they got a TOW missile greeting.

I came late to this, so someone may already have pinged you to this, but just in case.

It's a GREAT story of our Iraqi successes.

If you haven't already, I am sure you'll want to ping your Iraq successes ping list.

And here is a story of a Canadian sniper, who has done a terrific job, but was unappreciated.

I wish he could go back and fight with our great snipers.

Top Canadian sniper quits in frustration, might become mercenary.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1468026/posts

A Canadian Forces sniper who set a distance record by killing an al-Qaida fighter from more than two kilometres away has quit in frustration and may go into mercenary work.

Master Cpl. Arron Perry made national headlines twice in 2002: the first was anonymous, after he shot an al-Qaida fighter in Afghanistan from 2,430 metres, a world record.

The second was public and ugly. Perry, 33, and a 13-year veteran, was accused of discreditable conduct after he allegedly cut the finger off an al-Qaida corpse, defecated on another and then had his picture taken with a corpse that had a lit cigarette hanging from his lips and a sign around his neck reading "F**k Terrorism."

The investigation was eventually dropped and no charges were ever laid, but Perry's reputation was left in tatters.

A military ombudsman's investigation was launched into whether Perry and other snipers, who were seconded to an American unit to provide cover fire and support, were unfairly treated after their return from Afghanistan.

Five of the snipers received the Bronze Star from the U.S. military for their efforts, which included killing about 20 members of al-Qaida.

Perry, originally from Newfoundland, quit at the end of April.

"I retired because I didn't feel that I was being treated properly and I felt abandoned by the military," he said. "I don't trust anyone. "

Perry is still surprised at how upset some people got after his picture ran in a national newspaper next to the corpse.

"It's a dead body. Who cares? You know what, I was glad about that picture. Remember what that sign said? 'F**k Terrorism.' And I still say, 'f**k terrorism.'

"I saw the sign up there before the picture, and if I didn't like it, I would've taken it off."

Multi National Forces West press release, forwarded by Mike Thompson: "In the first incident, a sniper team observed an insurgent digging a hole along a street that historically contained a high number of improvised explosive devices (IEDs). The sniper team engaged the insurgent with one round and was able to confirm one enemy killed in action.

Shortly afterwards, a taxi pulled up and stopped between the body of the insurgent and the sniper team. Three insurgents exited the vehicle and began firing sporadically in all directions with AK-47s.

The sniper team engaged all the three individuals and was able to confirm three additional enemy killed in action. At this point, a fourth insurgent got out of the taxi and began firing at the sniper team. The insurgent was engaged as well, but was able to escape in the taxi after being injured.

(hope the statue of limitations has expired)

I don't think the BATFE believes in any steenking statute of limitations. If there even is one on NFA violations, they'll just find some fender washers in your garage and say you were in possession of components to make a silencer.

Watch your back, and your front.
