PARIS -- Police officers, exhausted and dispirited after 11 nights of street battles, say their mainly young African and Arab adversaries have access to sophisticated weapons including grenades and could soon begin using them. A dozen officers were injured, two of them seriously, after being shot with hunting rifles fitted with lead pellets during rioting last night in the suburb of Grigny, south of Paris, police said. Jean-Christophe Carne, president of a police trade union, told The Washington Times before last night's outbreak that police officers were increasingly pessimistic that civic order would be restored anytime soon. "Most of these kids are being coached by professional petty criminals and gang leaders in the suburbs," said Mr. Carne, president of Action Police CFTC. "In the past, when we have cracked down on these criminals in their homes, we found drugs, grenades and heavy weapons such as guns. While they haven't started using these arms yet, there's also no reason to think they wouldn't."

I think it would be really neat if the Israeli government were to issue a statement advising the French to act with restraint. Yeah!

The Israeli's are much too classy for that, but it sure would be sweet.

One of the best pictures ever.....LMAO. The captions are amazing. Particularly liked the "La vache qui rit" patch on that brave (/sarc) French soldier's left arm.

That was the old days and the Foreign Legion. Heavily outnumbered they went down in fine style.

Whoever wrote this doesn't know shinola from a shotgun. Well, there are cartridges such as the CCI MiniMag, but you're probably right.

I have to laugh. Heavy weapons=guns? Does this loser have any idea what "heavy weapons" refers to? I think not.No kidding, here's another part of the article I found particularly amusing.
"Over the weekend, police also found a gasoline bomb-making workshop in a derelict building in Evry, south of Paris, with more than 100 bottles ready to be turned into Molotov cocktails, 50 more ready to use, as well as fuel stocks and hoods for hiding rioters' faces. Speaking to the Associated Press, Justice Ministry official Jean-Marie Huet said the discovery shows that gasoline bombs 'are not being improvised by kids in their bathrooms.'"
Ooooh!!! Scary isn't it? Now they're manufacturing sophisticated gasoline bombs, (known on the street as "Molotov cocktails"). I imagine they probably have highly trained specialists that enable them to make these fearsome weapons. Afterall, no kid could figure out how to pour gas in a bottle and stuff a rag in the top.

I'd like to propose the establishment of a new country just for Freepers. Our constitution will be simple: 1. Capitalism, without a hint of socialism.
2. A strong and merciless defense department.
3. We don't put up with ANY MUSLIM CRAP!!!
4. Fridays: hot fudge sundaes are half price.
France may soon be available, and they're apparently ready to let it go quite cheaply. Added benefit: They already have the proper stickers on the cars.

I think it would be really neat if the Israeli government were to issue a statement advising the French to act with restraint.
Actually, Israel should demand that France immediately issue thousands of automatic weapons to the noble Paristinian freedom-fighters.
Israel should then embark on a diplomatic initiative to reach a two-state solution and demand that the French-occupied Left Bank be turned over to the Paristinians.

Nonsense they have gun control laws. Did they miss RPG laws or something?
Remember surrender IS an option.

Good morning.
'A minor injury unless the target is real unlucky."
A modern pre-charged air rifle, which I believe are legal in France, can shoot it's projectile at more than a thousand feet per second.
I might be wrong about the legality of owning one in France, but I know how lethal they can be.

"after being shot with hunting rifles fitted with lead pellets" Considering the 20 ga shotshell shown on another thread, that means the hunting rifles are .50 cal. Way cool!

Francistan or Parislamabad or something.
I think we've settled on Paristine, the homeland of the oppressed Paristinians.
