Philadelphia Eagles controversial wide receiver Terrell Owens has reportedly been suspended indefinitely due to conduct deemed detrimental to the team.
Owens has also been battling a severely sprained ankle, which put his availability for this week's game in jeopardy. However, after missing Wednesday's practice, Owens was upgraded from doubtful to questionable and it appeared he would be ready to go.
According to 610 WIP in Philadelphia, though, head coach Andy Reid decided to suspend the enigmatic wideout for numerous comments he has made about the organization this week.
The radio station, however, did not report how many games Owens would miss, but it is certain that he will not play in Sunday night's key divisional contest against Washington.
Earlier in the week, Owens made comments about how the organization "lacked class" after not recognizing the fact that he caught his 100th career touchdown pass in an October 23 game against San Diego. Owens also claimed that the team's comment of allegedly forgetting about the milestone touchdown was a "blatant lie" and it insulted the receiver.
Philadelphia does not typically honor individual achievements on the scoreboard or stop the game to celebrate an accomplishment.
Then, in the same interview, Owens addressed the team's quarterback situation and stated that the Eagles would have a better record and even perhaps be undefeated if All Pro Brett Favre was under center opposed to Donovan McNabb.
However, on Friday, Owens delivered a written apology for his remarks.
"I've had the opportunity to talk with the Eagles organization, and I have learned the team does not recognize individual achievements," Owens uttered. "It has been brought to my attention that I have offended the organization and my teammates. Therefore, I would like to apologize for any derogatory comments toward them."...

The classless TO accuses others of lacking class""
Sorta on a level with putting O J Simpson in charge of a home for battered women, right???
This punk is just that- a PUNK.
As much as I love football, I cannot stand this player.
I hope he wil be out of the game entirely.
Interesting.
"The Raiders would be a good fit for him.
Oh the ego clash between he and Randy would be worth the price of admission alone."
Randy Moss has been quiet lately. The Raiders mature locker room tends to coerce the big mouths to shut up and play football.
If Owens goes to Oakland, rest assure the Raiders will not put up with any of his crap.
Classless and borish he may be, but he sure can catch and run.
Derrick Mason.
I'm a Steeler fan, so I have no love for the Bengals, but I've becom a big Chad Johnson fan; he does it the right way. He makes his outrageous claims of talent and calls out defensive backs before and after the games. When a DB does a good job against him, he gives the DB credit. Also, he does his endzone dances without props. In the end, he doesn't take himself too seriously. He's just having fun with it, and the rest of us are entertained. His Geico Insurance comment last week was hilarious.
Another reason for us Giant fans to appreciate what we've got with Eli Manning. In this day and age, to have a kid this humble and classy (and talented)... didn't know they still made 'em that way.
Even when our inevitable stumble comes this year, it's been a great time to be a Giants fan. The Mara legacy, Coughlin, class acts like Eli and Tiki and Amani, even former wild child Jeremy Shockey has settled down and become a solid team leader.
We're proud of this team here in NY... hopefully the rest of the country will see that too!
So, TO has done it again. When are these multi-million dollar crybabies going to learn that football is a team game? The Eagles made it through the playoffs without him last year and lost the Super Bowl with him on the roster. He is not so special, though I would love to see him in a Bears uni.
I applaud the Eagles. They should have done this long ago, but better late than never. I can't wait to see him in a return game to Philadelphia with whatever team he ends up on. You think Philly fans hate Santa Claus? Wait til they get a hold of this freak.
Too bad the Sea Hawks will bring the mighty Giants back to earth, they can show how much class they have in a loss.
Statement from Jeff Lurie (Eagles owner):
"Unfortunately, Mr. Owens' selfish conduct was not in the best interests of the team, and ultimately, displeasing to me personally. If at such time he realizes that he is, in effect, no more than an employee of my company who is expected to conform to a behavioral code of conduct, we may revisit the status of his employment. Until and unless this transpires, Andy, Joe, and myself are in agreement that this is the best avenue for our organization at this time."
GOOD! This guy is the biggest cancer in the league. He's a chump of the highest degree.
owens was a mouthy POS when he was with the weenie niners. And he's a mouthy POS now. There's a reason Frisco let him go and it wasn't because of his stats. Same with moss. Their mouths made them more unappealing then their good numbers made them appealing. owens is a mouthy jerk and it makes me happy to see that he's been nailed to the wall and forced to apologize like a 5 year old being spanked and then drug infront of someone to say "I'm sorry". HAHAHAHAHA!!! Pooooooor t.o.. I guess now the "t.o." stands for "Time Out". Couldn't have happened to a bigger jerk. 8)
Yes, all of NY is worried over a Seattle Seahawk game a month down the road. There's talk of forfeiting, in fact. You guys are just too good.
Or making Ted Kennedy an honorary member of MADD. Oh, sorry, they really did do that. My mistake.
That would be the wise thing to do!
Umm he has a superbowl ring and has his team tied for the division lead... he seems to be doing ok..
