Philadelphia Eagles controversial wide receiver Terrell Owens has reportedly been suspended indefinitely due to conduct deemed detrimental to the team.
Owens has also been battling a severely sprained ankle, which put his availability for this week's game in jeopardy. However, after missing Wednesday's practice, Owens was upgraded from doubtful to questionable and it appeared he would be ready to go.
According to 610 WIP in Philadelphia, though, head coach Andy Reid decided to suspend the enigmatic wideout for numerous comments he has made about the organization this week.
The radio station, however, did not report how many games Owens would miss, but it is certain that he will not play in Sunday night's key divisional contest against Washington.
Earlier in the week, Owens made comments about how the organization "lacked class" after not recognizing the fact that he caught his 100th career touchdown pass in an October 23 game against San Diego. Owens also claimed that the team's comment of allegedly forgetting about the milestone touchdown was a "blatant lie" and it insulted the receiver.
Philadelphia does not typically honor individual achievements on the scoreboard or stop the game to celebrate an accomplishment.
Then, in the same interview, Owens addressed the team's quarterback situation and stated that the Eagles would have a better record and even perhaps be undefeated if All Pro Brett Favre was under center opposed to Donovan McNabb.
However, on Friday, Owens delivered a written apology for his remarks.
"I've had the opportunity to talk with the Eagles organization, and I have learned the team does not recognize individual achievements," Owens uttered. "It has been brought to my attention that I have offended the organization and my teammates. Therefore, I would like to apologize for any derogatory comments toward them."...

The classless TO accuses others of lacking class""
Sorta on a level with putting O J Simpson in charge of a home for battered women, right???
This punk is just that- a PUNK.
As much as I love football, I cannot stand this player.
I hope he out of the game entirely.
TO has turned into the NFL's version of Dennis Rodman, minus the tattoos and hair color.
Oh I am sure they will find someone to fill his shoes...if not no loss to me I am a Packers fan.. and I want to see other teams suck as bad as we do this year. :)
Fantasy FB: So do I start McNabb or Brees this week?
Ping.
Go with Brees!
The Eagles need to just tank the season and grab a RB in the top of the 1st round-- DeAngelo Williams from Memphis or Laurence Maroney from Minnesota.
arrogant, overpaid attention junkie gets another fix.
Don't forget Ray Lewis!
Are you kidding? With LT and Gates and McCardell and Brees healthy and McNabb and TO not? Has there been a week McNabb was a better fantasy QB than Brees?
I knew this would happen. TO just can't keep his mouth shut.
ping
The Eagles don't mess around. They DO NOT kowtow to ANY player.
It has amazed me how many star players the Eagles have sent packing over the years because the players wanted to "renogotiate" or because they came to camp out of shape or whatever.
They knew they were taking an uncharacteristic chance on TO. It didn't pan out. Oh well. The Eagles will simply move forward without him. Good riddance to TO. He won't be back unless it's with his tail between his legs. I understand Drew Rosenhaus(sp?) is tough to locate these days.
That's the way I've been leaning but everytime I bench McNabb he has one of those 3TD, +300 days.
The fact that they have suspended T.O. makes McNabb a stronger fantasy play in my mind. His antics had become a distraction and were disruptive to the team.
Don't give him any ideas...
And although Rodman was a freak, you didn't really hear his teammates whining about him.
The guy won 2 Championships w/ Detroit and a couple with the Bulls...and he was the only guy who could ever cover Michael Jordan.
Heh Heh... Sounds like Raider material to me....That's where all the bad boys go.....
As long as he can make the catch, there will always be some team that will be willing to take the chance that they can deal with the ego. Sadly, in the NFL, one cannot possess both talent and humility anymore.
Actually most, at least in my leauge. LT's running and TDs actually hurt Brees' points. McNabb has had to throw a lot and has been posting +300yds and multiple TDs even when they lose.
I never understood the logic in signing a long term contract, then after one year, want to change it. If you didn't like the original deal, then don't sign it.
