China - War Threat
The Epoch Times ^ | October 31 | Michael Scroccaro

“In the 1930s, Hitler told us what he was going to do and we ignored it for years and years and years. In the 1990s, the terrorists told us what they were going to do and we ignored it.” - Rudolph Giuliani, January 27, 2002

If those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it, then the West may be doomed yet again to face another brutal and well-armed tyranny that is strategically aligned with Russia, persecutes its own people, and threatens its neighbors under the guise of “reunification.”

Its not very often that a nation provides the money to buy the bullets and guns which will be aimed at its own head - but the U.S.A. has an alarming habit of doing so.

Let's see....
1. China has nukes - wants to take over the world
2. Russia has nukes - used to want to take over the world
3. N. Korea has nukes (see #1)
4. Iran will have nukes - wants Islam to take over the world

All 4 are allied together - sounds like a disfunctional family. It will be interesting to see how all this plays out in the future, not that I want to.

Maybe. China is definitely not our friends, but its also important to note that they are not cracking down as hard on christianity as they were (which isn't to say they're making nice with christians. They aren't). Furthermore, they have a lot to lose by going to war. Germany as able to import the raw materials they needed to fight the war overland for the most part, making it naval blockade of only limited utility. China cannot do this. They must control the sea in order for their economy, and by extension, their war machine to function. And they can't. Their navy barely qualifies as a bad joke. India's navy could whup China's navy. Enforce a blockade around their ports and shipping lanes with fast attack submarines, and their economy would strangle itself to death within a matter of weeks. If they want to go nuclear, then when we're done, Chinese civilization won't exist.

And people wonder why we want missile defense.

This is exactly why we need missile defense, in fact. The US Navy and Air Force can easily prevent Chinese air and naval forces from delivering nuclear weapons to US soil by sea or air. China has to use ICBMs if they want to nuke the US. If we can neutralize that threat, then they don't have a military leg to stand on.

Understanding of China in the west is not advanced by not taking him seriously.

I use the word "him" deliberately. China is not a her. China is a growing, strong potential adversary - one with a history of military study 20 times longer than our country has even existed. A nation of fighters. Of competitors. Of people who have learned to be quite tough, by the circumstances they have been surrounded by.

While we argue amongst ourselves here, to try to keep the welfare mentality from completely destroying our ability to work, produce and innovate - China has methodically been dismantling the "iron rice bowl" of state handouts, slowly teaching 1.2 billion people how to (compete with America).

Remember the Asian students you went to college with. Now ponder for a moment that just the Chinese component of that situation outnumber Americans by approximately 5 to 1. The population under 30 in China, is larger than our entire country - retirees and all.

Remember next the fact: Chinese want boy babies. Baby girls are still at risk their first few days. Resulting in an excess population of young males who - won't have a wife. A HUGE excess population of young males. Who are approaching peak potential military age, as the Chinese economy continues to gain momentum.

Combine that 50 million or so unmarried guys, a massive and growing cash surplus measuring in the hundreds of trillions of US dollars, a historical chip the size of Nanjing - and the last thing anyone should do, is waving off China's potential for good (or for bad) so dismissively.

We had better take China seriously. They take us seriously, and have been studying us for a long, long time.

The last thing we should do, is look at China and not recognize that the trends between our nations - financial, military, educational, demographic - all seem to be pointing (clearly, in the opinion of this poster) toward potentially difficult times ahead.

The US as total assets of around $100 trillion but the Chinese have cash assets of hundreds of trillions, in US dollars no less? Now that's impressive!

Oops. You're right, sorry - got caught up in writing.

China's total foreign exchange reserves are somewhere around 700 Billion.

Still, that's about one tenth the size of our - cumulative national deficit.

It should be obvious even to an idiot that in these days of WMD in the hands of nations and others with evil intent, preemptive strikes are no longer an option, they are necessary for our survival.

And meanwhile the Chinese are rather drastically reducing their troop strength; one of their big problems now is a lot of unemployed and unhappy former military men.

It's not some grand devious plan to have lots of boys for a huge army. Anyway, not like masses of cannon fodder would be relevant in any war with the US anyway.

In some ways, that is even more worrisome. It sounds a little like Germany in the period immediatly following WWI.

Keep in mind that half the German economy was directed towards war production in the years leading up to WWII.

China's claim of about 30 billion represents roughtly 2% of thier GDP. Even if the 90 billion was true, it would represent 6% of their GDP.

China knows that they are prospering under Pax Americana and won't challenge it. In fact, they can see for themselves the cost of maintaining global security (i.e., 2000+ casualties in Iraq). They will leave the policing of the world to the Americans and continue to focus their energies on expanding trade.

I personally believe there will come a day when Americans will insist that China send their military to help the US in military hotspots. Remember 1980's Japan? There was a feeling that Japan was benefiting from American security but not contributing to it. Americans will someday feel that way about China.

Believe me, if we let the liberals continue having their way in the US, Congress and a future President will roll out the welcome mat to our worst enemies.

The Americans wouldn't have to be worried about the military strength of China currently would they? they're rearming themselves with old soviet technology...
back in the days of the Korean war China struggled with the UN and USA's forces and plus the north koreanshelp they both lost over 2 million in battle but America lost under 100,000 men and south koreans lost around 1,000,000.
America needs to worry bout that long term deficit tho, China's and japans surplus causes everyone else to have deficits and USA is only paying' enough to pay off its interest... so they need to keep an eye China's economy..... in the future....
