McPain is so far in the middle that he doesn't stand for anything. Let's see how wishy-washy that he will be on the filibuster.

You're right. McCain sure seems like he is positioning himself to do exactly that. Now, will Lindsay go with him?

McCain says you may not win a show down. Heh, McCain, Republicans do have a majority in the Senate. Are you saying you will not get them on board?

One would think McCain would support ALito just because he did in the past.....

I hope we can do to him what we did to Arlen Specter when he ran for President. (What a joke, I have to laugh every time I think about it.) Arlen couldn't stand conservatives before he ran; now he really hates us. Give McPain the same treatment if he runs.

We maybe can't win a showdown he says, and we have to wait until the gang of 14 meets and he finds out what his colleagues think, yada, yada, yada, and the votes weren't there before to get rid of the fillibuster. The votes weren't there because of losers like him!!!

We need to start putting pressure on Warner, Specter, and Hagel right now.

Those three will decide this nomination on the nuclear option. Dewine and Graham would vote for the nuclear option that is why I don't understand the anger at them. They are yes votes for the nuclear option. McCain is a no vote.

Iowa republicans should put pressure on Hagel who wants to run for president. Have the 3rd circuit judges in philly talk to Specter. And have dewine and graham talk to warner.

Dewine and Graham bailed on the gang of 14 today. Now it is the gang of 12 and Specter we got to worry about. McCains phones need to melt in the next 24 hours. No Nuke Option, NO hope of being anything but the Senator from AZ for the rest of his life. He pushed the base too far too often. This is a with us or against us vote. Anyone not with us may as well switch parties

McCain will definately vote for Alito if it comes to the floor but the floor vote is meaningless.

The only way the nomination gets blocked is by fillabuster.

McCain is against voting for the nuclear option. So if the dems go for the fillabuster McCain will never get the chance to vote for his nomination on an up or down vote. The problem with McCain is he is going to join Chafee, Snowe, and Collins voting against the nuclear option.

McCain is actually meaningless in this process because we know he is a no vote on the nuclear option which is the key vote with a likely fillabuster.

The key votes are Specter, Warner, and Hagel and I doubt we can get 2 of them.

Indeed, "not very presidential". Would he rule by committee?

Specter is a friend so McCain can count him out as well. From his press release I got from RNC, Specter gave somoe good press to Alito -- no trouble from him.

I heard Lindsay on Sean's this afternoon. He's for this judge & the nuke option if necessary.

Warner and Hagel are doable. Specter is very ify. Really need to melt their phones for the next 24 hours. If Hagel has any hope in 2008, he has to go with us.

Lindsay is a yes vote and so is dewine for the nuclear option. They were never the problem. They joined the group of 14 partly because the votes weren't locked up for the Gop on the nuclear option.

This would be a brutal loss to have the dems fillabuster and lose the nuclear option. We might be a vote or two short. I don't even trust a senator like Murkowski on the nuclear option she has pro choice leanings and wanted nothing to do with it last time. We only have 47 definate yes votes for the nuclear options.

Hagel wants to run for POTUS....and unless he is as delusional as McCain in thinking that he doesn't need the conservatives to win....he BETTER be on board to fight it out.
