If Reid was part of a majority, or even a relevant minority that actually had solutions or spoke for most of the American people, then his being upset about Alito might have mattered. But as it is, Reid represents a minority of the people in the country, in his state, and the democrat party is devoid of ideas and is the party of no, so his disappointment in Alito matters not. I hope all the demorats are constipated over Alito getting the nod. They seem constipated all the time anyway.

That is interesting and I'm glad to read his rationalization.

But that doesn't excuse his traitorous behavior.

He and his buddies tried to cure a major problem with a band-aid. Yes, they got a couple of lower court judges confirmed. But now we're right back where we started.

The RATS are going to fight hard, very hard, against Alito. I expect Alito to get out of the committee and then the RATS will filibuster in the Senate.

I agree with Lindsey when he said,

I'm not for filibustering. I think when you start ideologically driven filibusters that are partisan, you erode the people who want to serve over time in the judiciary because it becomes reprisal politics. `We're going to pay back the Democrats.' So partisan filibusters based on judicial philosophy or ideology erode the judiciary, weaken the presidency and hurt the Senate.

He's really calling out Frist here. If, back in the spring, Frist had grown some cojones, corralled the RINOS and gotten the Constitutional option passed, Judge Alito's path would be much easier.

This does not change my basic opinion that Lindsey must go. He and his "Gang of 14" buddies are traitors and should be charged and tried as such. Unfortunately, that won't happen. So tossing his ass out of the Senate at the next election will have to suffice.

Mitchell told a whopping lie when he stated that Republicans started judicial filibusters.

He was talking about Abe Fortas and LBJ. Fortas was a crony of LBJ, and a crook. The Senate was not going to pass him, not even out of committee, and he was opposed by Senators from both sides of the
aisle.

I guess because the Majority Leader was Republican...was it Ev Dirksen?...so long ago I forget...supposedly it was a Republican "filibuster"...which never took place because Fortas withdrew.

Of course, not one of the Fox anchors called him on the lie.

Yes, The President is an extremely smart man. It was the smartest possible play. nominate Miers who Reid supported. Yet no Democrat came to her defense when the GOP started their muted grumblings. Have her step down.. Now nominate a true documented conservative and the Democrats when they kick and scream do so from the platform of "You wouldn't support anybody that GWB nominated"

Again the Dems look like party poopers and the country will rally to support the President..
