Conservatives should pat THEMSELVES on the back, absolutely. I agree, Arthur. This nominee sounds like a great choice. As far as many conversatives thinking of Janice Rogers Brown as their personal choice, I do wonder what precluded her being picked?.....had the Rats told the President they would have walked out of Washington for a month, thereby shutting down DC lol?
To: txrangerette
Thank you, txrangerette. Gosh, one mentions that some people are only Republicans in the Senate because they could only win their home state with an (R) behind their name, and now I'm a faux conservative. LOL. Some days I think FR couldn't get more silly and then, I find that it can :-)

Krauthammer's predictions don't always come true we know BUT, he said Sunday that the 3rd pick would be JRB!!!!!!
Now that would be a Supreme court any real conservative could love!
Go Bush!

***I expect many here on FR to apply the heat to their local Senators every time they make some weasel spineless speech that sounds like Alito is too big of a pill to swallow.***
Stand behind the President on this one - no single issues - the whole ball of wax for Alito!*** These guys are in trouble big time if they try to jump ship on this pick.***
Dang right!

I hope I do not see a continuation of some of the statements I heard by conservatives I greatly respect this time around the confirmation process.
Conservatives hold the upper hand on the issue of the Court IF we can correctly explain our views to the American people. I am not speaking of PR over substance, but the opposite. The substance sells. So simply, sell the substance of the role of the Court.
We did damage to our cause when we allowed the debate of Miss Miers to include mention of her personal beliefs, especially her religion. This is damaging to our cause of explaining our beliefs to the People. Our cause is the antithesis of this issue of personal beliefs. The law above personal belief is where we need to always stand. The law applied not created by justices on personal whims, beliefs, attitudes of what they like best on any given Tuesday.
We can not be drawn down this road again. It is placed on our shoulders to explain and inform to everyone that the law must be beyond personal opinions of all judges. We are all equal before the Law only when the Law is applied equally.
I do not care a nominees personal opinion on anything.
The law and the Constitution and their beliefs in those regards is all that matters.

"Can we count on the RINOs among us when the chips are down?"
You better count on them. The right nuked Miers knowing full well that this was going to happen.
Well you got what you wished for. Now let's see it work.

On Fox it's already started: "The President has pandered to the most extreme wing of his political party..blah, blah, blah"
After all the wailing and gnashing of teeth over Meirs, let's just hope the most extreme wing will now support the President just as vehemently - in the face of what will be blistering liberal rhetoric over this nominee.

Seriously, if Reid is upset, do we need anything more to know about this nominee?

Oh, here we go. You're one of the "real" conservatives and anyone on this forum who doesn't agree with you is a faux conservative.
Funny, I was just thinking the same thing. In reverse.
Now, quick: start talking about "unappeasables" and "DU trolls" and "issues with women" and "elitists." If all else fails, you can unsheathe the "stalking" card.
...(snicker)...
If you can't post to me in a serious manner that relates to the issue at hand, I'd suggest you don't post. Thanks.

I hope Wilson is eventually discredited.Every time I start thinking that, I remind myself that we never did find out what Sandy Burglar was up to. But don't let me go off on that!

It's gonna be fun to listen to Hugh Hewitt explain how Miers removing herself was so wrong when Alito is the pick now. He already "explained" it. If he continues in the same vein he's been on, this is a bad pick because the Senate will not vote to confirm - the votes aren't there.

As a Catholic, let me just say this. Now that there are five Catholics on the court (or will be) we can implement our Master Plan.

Snowe is going to be hard one to touch. I don't know if there are any real challengers. Maine is a strange state. It used to be solidly red but that was long ago.

Good point. This guy has absolutely no understanding of the private sector economic engine that makes America great.
Such judges, of whom we have an overwhelming majority on the USSC, are incapable of understanding why they should make rulings that are supportive of the rights of the American people to a civilized society.
Our experience with these guys should have provided all the evidence we need to cease the practice of providing them ever more remunerative federal government employment.
