I don't think it's really necessary. But it is happening more and more across all races and economic situations.

I don't know that one, but I can do a nice "Foggy Mountain Breakdown" for you if you have a couple of minutes.

I believe this a race breakdown in general from 2003 to 2004, not just for unwed births, but here goes:

White: 18,000 fewer births in 2004 than 2003

Hispanic: 32,000 more births in 2004 than 2003

Asian: 8,000 more births in 2004 than 2003

Black: 72 more births in 2004 than 2003

In the New York area the overwhelming majority of unwed mothers are black and native-born Latino (Nuyoricans and Dominicanyorks, not Mexicans), with black women by far the largest group. Here in Washington State, however, I see alot of blue collar and below white women with three different fathers, often of different races.
