the indictment wasn't written by Dan Rather.

Tim Russert wrote it.

Am I missing something?

No. You're not missing anything. It's all just nuts.

No wonder he could get an indictment. No one knew what the hell he was talking about. They just wanted to go home! lol!

Nice list. You're missing this one:

* It is irrelevant to the case who sent Wilson on the trip whether it was his wife or someone else, so the lies that got this whole thing started don't matter.

Martha Stewart is convicted of lying about a non-crime. Libby is charged with lying about a non-crime. I expect Tom Delay will end up being charged with lying about a non-crime.

I see a pattern here. Ask a hundred people a hundred questions a hundred times about any innocuous event and you are bound to get a discrepancy. The rest is easy and the prosecutor gets another notch on his gun.

Libby is now shopping for a criminal defense attroney.

He did not have a criminal defense lawyer all this time.

Foolish mistake.

Yes, that little anecdote was supposed to indicate how obsessively dedicated to his work he is, but to me that just sounds terribly scatter-brained.... maybe he's supposed to be the brilliant absent-minded professor turned prosecutor. I agree with people here who say we shouldn't sink to the level of the Clintonistas by trashing the prosecutor, but that's also not at all necessary. The theme should be the thinness of the evidence, the unreliability of MSM reporters, and the grotesque distortion of our national life that occurs when we have everyone focused on trivial "he said, she said" debates about conversations between Libby and reporters rather than all the REAL and GRAVE national security matters at stake. We can trash these flimsy charges without even talking about the prosecutor, and when the MSM brings him up to try to force Rs to attack him, just say the obvious, that even very good and dedicated people can make a mistake, and these indictments are obviously a mistake. btw, if Libby should prove to be in very serious legal jeopardy the relevant point would be similar: Libby was been working his butt off for years with enormous dedication protecting our national security, and IF he did make any mistakes in how he tried to CORRECT a vicious disinformation campaign against the WH, such mistakes need to be put into the context of what Joe Wilson and his band of vicious 'Rats have been doing against our nation for so long.

He didn't even establish whether or not Plame sent Wilson?

That was my take

What the hell did he investigate the last 2 years

Don't you know Dims have rules of laws of their own.

I think the bird on Fritz's shoulder is about to fly the coop.

I can't figure out if Libby is being indicted for his lies to the press.

Well, the news conference made it pretty clear that he is being charged with misleading investigators and the GJ, and lying to investigators. Lying to reporters wasn't illegal, it was the lying to investigators that was.

Fitz keeps trying to make it sound like the "outing" was a crime. But he refuses to say what law was broken.

Well then we must find a way to get it out there and make it relevant.

Whether Valerie/Joe lied about who suggested Joe for the trip is irrelevant, according to FItzgerald.

If he believes that then this whole affair is just a case of "selective prosecution". It's been all about what can we charge the Bush administration with and not about the big picture.

All Democrat lies are irrelevant to Fitz. But Republican misstatements or incorrect recollections aren't.

So it's irrelevant that Wilson lied repeatedly about his trip, who sent him, etc., and we're not supposed to care and it's not relevant to the case? It's a parallel universe out there.
