Many adults in the United States believe Republican Rudy Giuliani should launch a White House bid, according to a poll by the Marist College Institute for Public Opinion. 54 per cent of respondents would like the former New York City major to run for president in 2008.
Republican Arizona senator John McCain is second on the list of prospective candidates with 52 per cent, followed by Democratic New York senator Hillary Rodham Clinton with 48 per cent, and former North Carolina senator and 2004 Democratic vice-presidential nominee John Edwards with 47 per cent.
Less than 40 per cent of respondents support bids by Massachusetts senator and 2004 Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry, and U.S. state secretary Condoleezza Rice.
Giuliani garnered national and international attention in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The former New York City mayor currently heads Giuliani Partners, LLCa consulting firm.
In an Oct. 5 speech to business leaders, Giuliani opened the door for a possible White House bid, saying, "I think Ill return to politics."

Oops, freudian slip? McCain is a Repubbie!
I don't believe that Guilliani will sell in the conservative South. I certainly do not want a man of such low moral character in the White House. We had that with Bill Clinton and we certainly don't want that ever again. Chatacter does count.
If Republicans nominate a pro-gay pro-abortionist they can say goodbye to the churchgoing conservatives who form the base of the party.
Wretch....gag....vomit...
as much as think Rudy is just fine for the peoples republic of NY City...he is not to be trusted as a presidential hopefull or even NY Governor.
As a Senator from NY, he can only improve things and thats as far as he should go.

probably such a high no number because no Dem wants to see her run knowing she will offset the votes Hillary will get just because she is a woman
This is going to be an awful boring election.
...and not a conservative on the list.
47% for a former one-term Senator from North Carolina???? Who is currently unemployed????
People must be NUTS!
Franks and Rice 2008!
I wonder if/when Rick Perry shows up.
Uh-oh...Can't talk this subject here... Need a blue-blood, elite candidate...
I doubt Rudi can win the GOP nomination. Even if he did, he wouldn't get my vote or the votes of a majority of conservatives.
They are trying to get us to nominate someone for whom the base will not vote. Don't fall for it.
Polls taken three years in advance of an election reflect nothing more than public name recognition, which explains why people like Giuliani and McCain consistently rank at the top of any list of GOP contenders.
So you would abstain and let Hillary win? Rudy would be much better than the alternative (Hillary) if he does turn out to be the nominee, which wont even happen IMHO.
Agreed, but if they nominate a real social conservative, they lose moderate urban and suburban voters. Darned if you do, darned if you don't.
