Jeffers posted at post 855, and sounded like he'd survived okay.

I will have to see if I can get My Republican Women's club and Executive Committee Members to help out the People of Clewiston. We spent Months helping out the really devastated people in Hardee County after Charley last year, even when our own properties were damaged. Our damage was nothing compared to Hardee COunty Damage. I stop in clewiston everytime I go to Broward County and the People are really salt of the earth types.

Here is a list of Okeechobee radio frequencies in use:

http://www.okeeinfo.com/frequency.htm

I'd guess anyone along the east coast from Melbourne south to West Palm Beach sould be able to pick up simplex traffic, maybe Ft. Myers too.

The Fire Rescue/Law Enforcement agencies may use repeaters that survived on generator power and may be audible at longer distances.

I would appreciate anyone who knows anyone who could help out here

are the trusses and sheathing still intact? a tarp alone won't prevent it from leaking they need to get some tar paper on there first

I was wondering about Laz, too. Sure hope he is okay.

NautiNurse put together a partial list of FReepers who haven't checked in yet post Wilma. Post #909

Prayers to all in this storms path.

Do it yourself roofing is exactly what Jeb was advising against during his presser today. The Army Corps of Engineers has a program where they will have the famed "blue roof" installed free of charge. It takes a while but they do the job right. It will likely take as long to get a reputable roofer to do it as it would for the ACE. Suggest the Aunt also contact her insurance company and get their advice as to her responsibilities to mitigate damage. A DIY repair might actually cause more problems than it solves. All Florida roofers must be licensed so be sure to verify the license of anyone she finds to slap up a Home Depot tarp for her.

I just had the pleasure of watching the replay of Steve Harrigan with his new whooaaaa! today and dodging roofing material. (shaking my head)

Thanks. I see Luis hasn't checked in either. I'm all but certain Luis and Laz are without power... both Miami area residents.

He seemed certain about his engineering of that house, but that swaying is worrisome to me.

Jeb strongly spoke out against the wethead storm reporters during one of his press conferences today. He was not pleased. Says they set a bad example by setting up camp outside when residents are encouraged to evacuate or stay indoors.

Per NBC Evening News, parts of Key West flooded to thigh deep.

Church collapse in West Palm Beach.

Knee deep flooding in Punta Gorda, downed trees, "that's it".

"Playa Bara Coa" (SP), west of Havana, Cuba, significant structural failures in residential areas, most residents evacuated.

I was worried about Luis, too. Haven't seen a post from him for quite some time. Was also glad to see your post about the strength of jsh3180's home. Sure hope he is okay... that house was swaying and the toliet slooshing. :::gulp:::

The guy from the weather channel blowing all over Miami... that was just a little too much. And... not to forget... whoever it was on whatever channel that was holding onto the white fence railing inching near the surf... and the fence gave way. hehehe {{{bafoon}}+
