Praying for your sister. I have not heard anything about Lake Placid. That is probably a good sign. I hope she gets in touch soon. I think I will run out and get a paper before they all get them. The sun is shing here N. of Orlando but the air is LIKE ICE and wind still gusting.

Just spoke with my family in Layton, FL (Long Key). They are totally flooded on the gulf side... said they have never seen it this bad. Prayers for them.

Just got power back to the computer.
Wow what rough night!I would estimate we had 70-90knot sustained last night with higher gusts. We had the "shutter song" all night long, it was a bit spooky and scary. One shutter came unlocked about 5. I had to open the window to re-lock it. My wife was not too happy aobut that. But it locked back.
Lots of tree damage in islamorada minor flooding, Key West really got pounded.

My daughter is trying to get the water out of her house and wading through the streets earlier. Cars with two feet of water, its pretty bad down there. several choke points on us one make it impassible in some areas for a while til the water goes down. I just drove into down town islamroada and minor damage.

glad its about over.

I have heard pro and con about whether the forward speed is factored in already. Some say yes. Some say no. What you say makes sense though.

I've got two little windows downstairs opened up to let the fresh air in here. A little too gusty yet to open the upstairs windows. Heavenly cool weather...going to sleep very well tonight.

Thanks for the report. We in N. Orlando got up bright and early and I told my sister "We were lucky! We never lost P...(the lights went off at that moment!). Then they came back on and stayed on. She would not let me mention it again. Cable was intermittant but working ok. Looks like Broward got it pretty bad.

My son is in Key West. Just got off the phone with him and he was wondering if they were going to be under martial law, if there was a curfew and when FEMA was going to get in there and what the status of US 1 was. He is supposed to call me back in about an hour. He put Harley on and she told me there was looting already.

Great to hear you are safe and have electricity. Reports from Key West indicate the residents pretty much got caught with their pants down for this one.

Glad your daughter is safe. Good sleeping weather for tonight.

No, forward motion is not factored in already. But in understanding hurricane forward motion kinetics the pros will add it to the projected hurricane wind speeds on the "dirty side" (Quad 1) of the hurricane but not at a 1:1 value.
It's not about wind speed anyway, it's about forward motion kinetics. That's the whole ball game.

Broward County. Don't know where they would have him working. My other brother tried him also and could get nothing.

Broward either got a small tornado or real high gusts from the looks of it. Glad you guys are o.k.
