Duncan, according to a report in The San Antonio Express-News, joined the Indiana Pacers' Stephen Jackson with not-so-kind words for commissioner David Stern's dress-up policy.
"I think it's a load of crap," Duncan said. "I understand what they're trying to do with the hats and do-rags and jerseys and stuff. That's fine. But I don't understand why they would take it to this level. I think it's basically retarded.
"I don't like the direction they're going, but who am I?"
Duncan, a two-time NBA MVP and three-time NBA Finals MVP, did not play in Tuesday night's 94-81 exhibition loss to the Indiana Pacers at Conseco Fieldhouse. He wore what The Express-News called his typical injured-list wardrobe: jeans and a dress shirt.
However, an NBA spokesman said Duncan would have to tuck his shirt in once the regular season starts and the policy goes into effect.

Hehe, I'm siting in Bulverde as we speak...

Yes, but he could retire tomorrow and live off the profits from his chain of donut shops.
Anyone who donates that much money to libs is basically retarded!
Tim is almost (not quite) a clone of David Robinson - the preacher man....
The Spurs are America's most boring NBA team - according to most NBA people.
We should be hearing from the Sharptons and Jacksons of the world shortly.
That he is! All of those guys are... just great fellas. I'm proud to have them representing me... they perfectly reflect the character of San Antonio.

I got my fingers crossed for another injury-free season for the starters.....
Basically, what's with the overuse of the word 'basically?'
For those in Rio Linda, I presume! /limbaugh
Yup yup... he is an idiot...

Hopefully so... As long as they stay healthy... they win...

Stern needs to step down. He's long in the tooth and has been commish since the early 80s.
The hip-hop/thug image is ruining the NBA, and only an outsider can return the game to what Naismith envisioned.
To me it is a state's rights issue (in a sense). Each team can police their team members. That way, the world will see what that city can produce.
LOL!!
Its the NBA superstar attitude that makes me want to puke. I dont care what they wear. But in my job, and other professions, if we went crying to the media that our boss makes us tuck in our shirt, we would get fired. Its the unprofessional attitude that dominates the NBA, that is the point. NBA reminds me of Hollywood actors. I enjoy watching them entertain me, until one of them gets infront of a camera and opens their mouth. After listening to them whine and gripe about the sacrifices they make for thier millions (like tucking in a shirt), I get mad at them.
That sounds like something my teenage daughter would say. To her, everything she doesn't like is "retarded".
Yes, Tim Duncan is a total class act.
BUT... the predominant commercial during the NFL Sunday & Monday night games shown in Singapore (Monday and Tuesday morning for us) is an NBA commercial - I think it's Nike or Reebock - with Allen Iverson at a pool table and his first words are "I'm not a gangster. I'm not a thug".
Well, if you don't have that image, then why do you have to say it first thing? That's probably the image that Stern wants to change, and the image that is turning off people around the world.
Well, if boring is winning three championships, I'll taking boring any day. In fact, I'm looking forward to being bored again this year.
Here's the dress code from NBA.Com.
