Duncan, according to a report in The San Antonio Express-News, joined the Indiana Pacers' Stephen Jackson with not-so-kind words for commissioner David Stern's dress-up policy.
"I think it's a load of crap," Duncan said. "I understand what they're trying to do with the hats and do-rags and jerseys and stuff. That's fine. But I don't understand why they would take it to this level. I think it's basically retarded.
"I don't like the direction they're going, but who am I?"
Duncan, a two-time NBA MVP and three-time NBA Finals MVP, did not play in Tuesday night's 94-81 exhibition loss to the Indiana Pacers at Conseco Fieldhouse. He wore what The Express-News called his typical injured-list wardrobe: jeans and a dress shirt.
However, an NBA spokesman said Duncan would have to tuck his shirt in once the regular season starts and the policy goes into effect.

Baseball players get to wear big chains DURING the game, and have 20-30 fights a year but basketball players are all thugs? ;-)
" I think it's basically retarded."
An expert on the subject
Stern can go suck eggs.....
Do you even know who Tim Duncan is? He is hardly an 'expert on the retardation'. To the contrary, he is one of the most upstanding NBA players.
Personally, I have not watched since Bill Russell retired. I hope their ratings continue to suffer and they all go bankrupt. I wouldn't pay a thin dime to watch these thugs play what they call basketball. They are a joke.
Whiney spoiled millionares. Most people with jobs have to tuck in their shirt, and for less money. Hey Duncan, STFU and collect you big bucks.
I can't wait for the NBA to go bankrupt
To the contrary, he is one of the most upstanding NBA "players."
Which is why i'm surprised he's pouting about about having to conform to a dress code at work.
Sort of like saying you're one of the smartest posters on DU
John Barry said on the local radio here this morning that he tolerates stupidity in the NBA but just tolerates it. He was referring to Marcus Camby (10 million per year) demanded the players be given a clothing stipend. That's it. Screw em.
Well, he just is annoyed with the dress code. Timmy has NEVER been one to argue, fight, or lead that "thuggish" lifestyle. NONE of the Spurs have. The Spurs are outstanding players and tremendous role models, and he is just upset because his shirt on the sideline will now have to be tucked in. This is from the fella that only tucks his jersey in when he is asked to by the refs. He is constantly having to be reminded to tuck that jersey in!
Great fella, you all need to stop knocking this fella... he was just letting out, thats all.

He's not very upstanding in this quote. He's vulgar and emotional. My company has a dress code, as do most companies, and I don't whine about it. They are just big babies playing a children's game.
Most of the fans who go to basketball games dont tuck in their shirts...hell, some dont even wear shirts.... Who cares if the roundballers tuck in their shirts? Obviously Stern does.
Wow... you don't know Duncan, do you?
NONE of the Spurs are bad guys... they are America's team... tremendous guys... and great Christians.

you are so right on about Tim.....Timmy is da man....
Agreed... Timmy is a great player and not a thug... He had David Robinson to train/educate him through his beginning years....
(note my name... DJL_SA... DJL in San Antonio ;-) )
Yep, I ran out of patience for the cry babys in the NBA. They sure have it rough.
I agree, how dare the head of a league tell a contract employee what to wear. Why if I were that contract employee, I'd take my talents elsewhere.
