If George Clooneys Good Night, and Good Luck is the best shot the left can unload on Joe McCarthy these days, the famous Red hunter is well on his way to a thorough rehabilitation. Ann Coulter has already begun the process in Treason and Stan Evans much anticipated bookdue out next yearis likely to boost the late Wisconsin senators stock even further.
The movie is really about CBSs star journalist, Edward R. Murrow (played by David Strathairn), and how he went after McCarthy, who is featured only in film footage from the archives. As Clooney (and most historians) would have it, the senator was a vicious, unscrupulous bully who ruined the lives of scores of innocent people by labeling them Reds. So where are the bloody corpses in Clooneys movie? Theyre totally missing. In fact, Clooneywho directed and helped write the moviedoesnt show a single person who was done in by the senators supposedly reckless charges. Not one!

I think "Guardians" (not "Trolls") is the game my "idiot" card is from too.

With respect. It was the media that demonized him. He was actually not a demon. Read Coulter's "Treason" for an in-depth analysis of the "Have you no sense of decency!" incident. It is a classic piece of outright media distortion of what actually happened.

I think a 'right-of-passage' for most Hollywood liberals is to come out with a piece that is critical of McCarthy. Woody Allen did it in THE FRONT; even Jim Carrey's recent movie THE MAJESTIC tries to work McCarthyism in as a backstory.

I heard Clooney mortgaged his hollyweird mansion to pay for this movie to be made. I personally hope it bombs and he gets financially wiped out the same way Drew Barrymore did with Charlies Angels 2.I don't think you heard that correctly. Accoring to Box Office Mojo, the film cost $7 million to make. That's pocket money for Clooney, even if he did put up the money himself. Which I doubt that he did - even if he didn't raise the money elsewhere for whatever reason, his production company would have put it up. No need to mortgage anything.

'The Front' was actually written by one time blacklisted writer Walter Bernstein. And directed by blacklisted Martin Ritt. Allen was just an actor for hire in that one.

The moral of the story is never expect an honest depiction of history from a Hollywierd liberal. It's time for someone like Roger Ailes with the help of Republican billionaires to form movie studios.

The idea of a drama being 100% faithful to the facts is a pipe dream. There's never been one. The historian and the dramatist use different tools and should not be held to the same standards.

"So where are the bloody corpses in Clooney?s movie?"
Plus McCarthy's "victim's never spent a day behind bars. If Murrow wanted to investigate a true threat to democracy then he should have looked at the Liberals. Look at FDR's forced internment of over 100,000 INNOCENT Americans of Japanese, Italian and German descent.
Try and find a movie which lays blame at the fabled Roosevelt's feet and you will not find it.
At least McCarthy's "victim's" got a hearing . And they never spent a day behind bars.

I just checked out the box office. This POS peaked at Number 12 and is already declining. And they were carpet bombing TV ads on some stations!
Good riddance to bad rubbish!

It's a bit sad to see the way the name McCarthy is dragged through the dirt, almost reflexively, by those who know nothing about what he did or what he stood for. The portrayal of Senator Joe McCarthy as a wild-eyed demagogue destroying innocent lives is sheer liberal hobgoblinism. Liberals weren't cowering in fear during the McCarthy era. They were systematically undermining the nation's ability to defend itself while waging a bellicose campaign of lies to blacken McCarthy's name.

Did you enjoy your little, umm, "break" between July 25 and August 4? Oh, and LOOK! Despite your signup date of "Aug.10, 2003", going to your posting history shows NOTHING before July 4, 2011. Troll.
Gee, I can't decide if you're senility, idiocy or jealously (a member FPer longer than you)has drove you mad but my postings are scattered from Aug.10, 2003 to today.

Yep. Even though I like her and thinks she's been unjustly scorched by the media, it's not enough for the true believers. I just don't think she's the best we can do against obamma.

Acknowledged: however, please acknowledge in return that an apparent gap of YEARS between signup and first post, looks atypical.

Huh. When I went to your homepage, and clicked "In Forum," and kept clicking "Previous Page" the list abruptly ended at July 4, 2011.
Quite unusual. A glitch in the software...?
Cheers!
