Sen. Bayh: Rove Must Step Down, Even if Not Indicted

A Democratic senator and potential 2008 presidential candidate said Thursday that White House political adviser Karl Rove must step down if he is linked to the leaking of a CIA operative's name.

Rove faces a fourth grand jury appearance in the investigation of the leaking of CIA officer Valeria Plame's name after her husband, former Ambassador Joseph Wilson, criticized the Bush administration's policies in Iraq.

"Even if he's not indicted, if it appears that a top adviser to the president of the United States was trying to harm someone personally for having a different public policy point of view, that's unacceptable behavior in the White House," Sen. Evan Bayh said.

The Indiana senator said Bush's strategists have divided the nation for short-term political gain.

"That kind of cynical strategy has worked well for Karl Rove and the people whose advice he takes, but it's not good for America and it's not the kind of politics I'm going to practice," Bayh said.

Bayh, who is considering a run for the Democratic presidential nomination, visited Iowa to campaign for legislative candidates.

. . . and the weekly "bimbo eruptions"

IIRC, the Bayh family is very good at quelling "bimbo eruptions" (see: Pixie Grismore).

Thanks, Ken. "Dutz"? I like it. I like it a lot.

Evan Bayh is a Dutz.

I heard the woman who helped author the law that Rove supposedly violated on Fox News. She worked for Sen. Goldwater. She said Rove absolutely did not violate the law as it was written. The anchor pointed out that at the time Rove supposedly blew Val's cover she was working a desk job at the CIA headquarters in Langley.

AH yes. The old "seriousness of the charges" canard.

Strange how this approach went compeltely dark during the Clinton decade of corruption.

I just got off the phone with Bayh's office. What a hoot. The South Bend office had no one answering phones. It went to voicemail.

I called his Washington number and got the brush off. His aide stated "I will send you some information". RIGHT!!! I believe that s/o

I also asked about Illegal Immigration and was told that the Senator is "looking into it".

The jerk who answered the phone could hardly wait to get me off the phone. I kept asking "what does the Senator plan to do about Illegal Immigration? I want his views." The phone aide just kept saying he did not want to give me his views. I stated "you are representing Senator Bayh, tell me what he thinks." of course the aide could or would not.

We hoosiers elect lots of losers. Not all of them are dems. Mitch has done more damage to the state than O'Bannon and Kernan combined. The only candidate against the stupid I-69 extension (NAFTA highway) was Gividen. Me and at least 15 other people cast our votes for him, so don't blame us!

"I don't know how this state can continually go red, yet somehow this idiot always gets re-elected. Maybe he's right... maybe Hoosiers AREN'T listening."

He sounded like a reasonable Democrat while he was Governor. When he got to D.C. he started to sound like Kennedy & Hillary.

"Bayh also voted against fellow Hoosier native son John Roberts."

He also voted against Condi Rice & Gonzales and voted against impeaching Clinton.

"Don't forget Teddy Kennedy, then."

I agree. He should have stepped down, YEARS ago, after killing a girl in his car by driving off a bridge. Then, there's Robert Byrd, a former member of the KKK. But since they're Democrats, their sins are automatically forgiven. Bah.

Bayh is going to have to go even further to the left to have any hopes of getting through the primaries. If he does, he better hope it works because he'll have a hard time getting elected in Indiana again if he does this. People in Indiana are catching on....slowly....but they are catching on to him.

All Democrats become a**holes as soon as they start to entertain national political ambitions.

As Rush used to say about the Dems' accusing Repubs. of anything, "It's not the evidence, it's the seriousness of the charges."
