Sen. Bayh: Rove Must Step Down, Even if Not Indicted

A Democratic senator and potential 2008 presidential candidate said Thursday that White House political adviser Karl Rove must step down if he is linked to the leaking of a CIA operative's name.

Rove faces a fourth grand jury appearance in the investigation of the leaking of CIA officer Valeria Plame's name after her husband, former Ambassador Joseph Wilson, criticized the Bush administration's policies in Iraq.

"Even if he's not indicted, if it appears that a top adviser to the president of the United States was trying to harm someone personally for having a different public policy point of view, that's unacceptable behavior in the White House," Sen. Evan Bayh said.

The Indiana senator said Bush's strategists have divided the nation for short-term political gain.

"That kind of cynical strategy has worked well for Karl Rove and the people whose advice he takes, but it's not good for America and it's not the kind of politics I'm going to practice," Bayh said.

Bayh, who is considering a run for the Democratic presidential nomination, visited Iowa to campaign for legislative candidates.

Where was Bayh when the Clinton White House had top advisors working very hard to harm someone personally - such as Linda Tripp?

But a President committing perjury is perfectly OK.

Notice that appearance = behavior. If Bayh THINKS he did it, than that's proof he did it. What garbage.

Bayh is one of my Senators. I didn't vote for him though. He has defintely changed his stripes after going to D.C. or I should say that he thinks no one in Indiana listens to him. What an absolute disgrace. The people of Indiana ought to be ashamed of him. I am.

Correct. He's trying to appeal to the foaming masses in the Democrat Party.

Rove did not leak Plame's name. Rove's sources appear to be reporters. Who the reporter's initial sources were is up to Fitz.

And Rove did not do anything to make anyone look bad...which is more than could be said of Joe Wilson. WH refuted along with Senate Select committee Wilson's lies.

Boy the Dems really want Karl gone.

Bayh also voted against fellow Hoosier native son John Roberts.

Yup. As was his vote AGAINST the eminently qualified native Indianan John Roberts, whom Bayh himself introduced at the committee hearing. "Look, leftist primary voters! Look, I'm doing what you WANT! Vote for meee!"

That's the whole point isn't it? As far as the Dims are concerned, guilt by THEIR accusation is all that is needed. Republicans, on the other hand, are nasty, mean, racists if they defend themselves. This is all sooooo predictible!

Can you say Walter Pincus? He's the Wash Post reporter that needs to be looked at - I'd bet he was the original leaker if not the writer!

With respect to Evan Bayh, I'm reminded of the old expression,
"The apple doesn't fall far from the tree,"
or in his case,

"The road apple doesn't fall far from the horse!"

Foaming? I've heard of raccoons foaming. Not a good sign!

Possibly speaking Plame's name: run him out of town.

Sell missile secrets to the Chinese for campaign contributions: both fine and dandy.

I fear trying to understand Dems because to understand them is to share in their madness.
