It may indeed by that the members of the Tax Panel, collectively, cannot read but there is no doubt that the American Taxpayer at large is giving that opportunity (AND IN SPADES).

Here are the first few General Comments to them after their recent pontification that "reform" really is not needed, but just a bit of tinkering. All but about 6 or so comments have been included - some with "Subject" line where appropriate.

Some are: funny, sad, biting, reflective, even discerning or not well informed. All are expressions of the American system. The Panel would do well to read (for a change).

There should be a lot of other good ones showing up, too.

By my count, more than 3000 individuals have already posted. That's fairly significant considering news of this tax panel's non-proposal isn't widespread yet.

Meaningful reform will take a near-revolt by taxpayers. The established bureaucracy (IRS) and Congress simply have too much to lose. They will not willingly give up the power they wield.

And you can believe the politicians look at it as a cross section of the public. We all need to remember that these guys are an appointed panel of "experts" (we now know the moniker is not true) and don't have a job after this is over. Our congressmen do have a job and want to keep it.

As Linder said on Boortz today, there is one person you can make feel very uncomfortable: your congressman.

Like a misbehaving child, we will have to show our Congresslizards that we will follow through.

I have a meeting at Nathan Deal's office next week. The message is to stand up and move tax reform forward. Otherwise, I will vote for the candidate who will do so. It is no longer sufficient to sit and watch. No.

"Tinkering" to them means adding six more chapters and I will then lose what little understanding I have of the tax code and will have to pay even more money to my CPA. And probably more to the Feds.

Well, consider. Boortz is in, what, 80 markets? He has toured the country in those markets to sign books for hundreds of people at a time. The book was number one on the NYT non-fiction for 2 or 3 weeks and is still on the best seller list after all these weeks.

The fair tax has been around for years, the president has mandated tax reform, the people see relief ahead. Yes, we are not alone.
