Hugh Hefner is pushing 80, and he's sired four children - one of whom, Christie, runs Playboy Enterprises - but he sounds ready to spawn again. "Holly and I have talked about that," Hef told me yesterday as he held forth in his trademark red velvet smoking jacket in a bedroom at the Peninsula Hotel. "I wouldn't reject it out of hand. I certainly think it's possible."
As for grownups David and Christie, from Hef's first marriage, and teenagers Marston and Cooper, from his second, they won't be consulted.
"It's not a committee decision," Hef said.
Holly is 25-year-old Holly Madison, the first among equals of Hef's three very blond girlfriends - who are stark naked, soaped up and, in one photo, administering playful licks in the shower in a foamy pictorial for Playboy's November issue (which Hef and the threesome will autograph today at the Virgin Megastore Times Square).
"I didn't entirely see it coming," Hef mused about Ms. Madison. "She's been with me now for a little over four years. I think this is probably for the rest of my life. This is serious."
Hef's pneumatic companions - besides Holly, there's Bridget Marquardt and Kendra Wilkinson - are the stars of "The Girls Next Door," E!'s popular reality show about life in the Playboy Mansion, seen through the eyes of his girlfriends.
"It's exactly the same as being the girlfriend of any other caring guy," Hef explains. "This relationship is not unique, other than the fact that there are three instead of one."
Other than that!
But it looks like Bridget and Kendra - who, as Hef and I chatted, were in a nearby room, daintily eating pizza while Holly watched - are term-limited. Gone are the days when Hef could handle seven girlfriends at once.
"I am slowing down - in my fashion," Hef said.
Baby, maybe. But marriage, never.
"Not because I don't care enough for her, but because I don't want to spoil the relationship," said Hef, who turns 80 on April 9.
Why would marriage spoil things?
"Why indeed? I don't know why. It has in the past. ... Holly made a comment once that in her dream, that five years from now it might be just the two of us. I think that's a real possibility."
I think you hit the nail on the head with "meal ticket for the rest of her life".
Holly's the one in red. Can't say I blame Hef...
Can't imagine why he would need it; that mansion of his is filled with natural aphrodesiacs of the most potent variety.
I think you hit the nail on the head with "meal ticket for the rest of her life". Which brings to mind Ann Nichole Smith.
When I was 17,I thought he was the coolest guy alive. The opportunity to mature has allowed me to see him as being exactly as you describe.
I think it goes beyond that, though. Holly doesn't strike me as the Anna Nicole type. Then again, I've formed this opinion based on a tv show.
I honestly think she has some sort of weird connection to Hef. I'd love to know what her family life was like growing up. And where in the heck is her family now? My daddy wouldn't care if I was 50 - he'd drag me out of the Playboy Mansion and beat me senseless (but only because I know he cares for me).
"This relationship is not unique, other than the fact that there are three instead of one."
...And he doesn't even need to convert to Islam!
It's funny seeing those so-called feminists being in league with Hef. He's living the dream life of a hedonist: all the pleasure and none of the responsibilities. Hef and the feminists agree: Marriage is bad. Abortion is good.
First off, if Holly decides to have a kid with Hef its going to be for the $$$$ - and I bet she waits to see how the reality show does as far as her career goes before she starts registering at Posh Tots...she may care for him (yes, I watched a couple episodes too...hang my head in shame) who knows?
Yes, Holly is very pretty. I watch the Girls Next Door for the fun of it(my DH thinks I've lost it considering how conservative I am). I watch it mostly out of curiosity on what really goes in and it is as sick as everyone can imagine. This man sleeps with all of these gals!
Anyhow, the 3 girlfriends are all nice girls and it is odd as to why they are throwing away their life on this man. Holly is beautiful, Bridget is a bit needy but still so pretty. And kendra is young, immature, but to pretty to make these kind of mistakes. I really hope they see that this is a loss of a life before it is to late.
I doubt likely Hef is going to be around to raise another child with Holly. Holly may get her prize, but why you would want to bring a baby in the pic when the father won't likely be able to be dad as it is groing up. What a selfish thing to do to a child!
I really love Holly and can understand her a bit. My name is Holly to she has kind of become my favorite, lol. I just wish someone would tell these girls they have worth and they don't have to subject themself to this sinful lifetstyle.
The great question-if we cared-that must be asked...How will Holly be able to juggle her social work while changing diapers on the baby and Hef at the same time, and how will she work out nursing the two on her busy schedule?
"Holly's the one in red. Can't say I blame Hef..."
not at all
he is being male to the extreme
Hef may be sick who knows , but not near as sick as a 24 year old who would want to sleep with an 80 year old man.
Most 24 y.o. women would puke at the thought. It just goes to show money CAN buy love at least a damned good imitation of it.
BTW: Hef recently lost one of his closest friends and poker buddies, Don Adams.
Weird connection is right. I watched it one time. Don't all those girls have to be home by 9pm or something like that? I don't know any normal 20 something girl that would actually like a curfew like that...must be all the "perks". :)
C'mon granpa Hef, let's it it one before the viagra wears off.
LOL!
see my last post...IMO Holly will not be preggers any time soon....
Add "stupid and selfish" to the list.
I only hope that when I'm 80 I'll only be half as evil, sick, vile, stupid and selfish. :)
Isn't this what he said for the last 4 or 5 blondes? Or am I thinking of Rod Stewart?
