Re-focus Halloween!
If your school insists on having some kind of Halloween celebration, recommend that they steer away from the ghoulish and occult and, instead, focus on the event as a fall festival. ...
"When you turn evil into a game, it trivializes it and numbs children to its darkness."

I buy cheap and expensive candy. The big kids dressed as teenagers get a little of the cheap stuff. The cute little kids with a good costume get bunches of the good stuff.
And like you, I make sure there will be plenty of the good stuff to last me a while.
There. That ought to wipe away 36 years of sin, dontcha think?
Oh, my goodness. Not only a whiny post, but a curse in the name of your deity, as well. Check with your pastor, if you would. I believe calling on God to concemn someone else is the very definition of taking the Lord's name in vain. I could be wrong, but do check with your pastor on that.
I think some FReepers are self-pasteurising, er ah, self-pastoring
"The big kids dressed as teenagers get a little of the cheap stuff. "
An excellent idea! Perhaps I'll stock up on the vomit and snot flavors of Bott's Every Flavor Beans, and use those for the teenagers dressed as teenagers.
For the boys, that is. I don't mind the girls in belly shirts. They're decorative.
*snicker*
I think the general rule should be, if your front porch light isn't on, you aren't playing.
Heck, SC, that's nothing. My dad turned my mom into a cup of tea.
Well, she did SAY, "Stash, make me a cup of tea."
Well...it stopped being fun when carloads of kids from outside the neighborhood show up at the door. And they're usually teenagers. Grow up, fercryinoutloud! Shouldn't be trick-or-treating much long after 10 years old.
LOL. You read my mind. I was also thinking if it rains real hard, the soapy windows will be downright clean.

Perhaps so. I've just always considered such curses to be no different from a curse a witch might put on a person. Same thing, exactly.
Back when I was a Christian, I'm sure I was admonished many times not to curse someone in the name of God. A little pretentious, I'd think.
That's hilarious. By those guidelines you could have gone as Satan, the Antichrist, or the False Prophet.
Lecherous old pervert. I'm right there with you :)
Yes, back and forth with tire tracks on your lawn - in Christian love of course.
Make that "much longer."
How about Samhain?
Good thing the right wing Christians don't run this country.
"I think the general rule should be, if your front porch light isn't on, you aren't playing."
That was the rule when I was a kid. I don't have kids and I like Halloween. It's fun to see them all dressed up running around Trick-or-Treating. My wife buys all kids of stuff for the yard. Reminds me of the fun I had when I was a kid.
See post # 141.
You said it elbucko. And it is for Christ's sake that Christians really shouldn't participate. Put for you pagans . . . party away!
Speaking of good costumes, I'm not the crafty type but one year my daughter and her friend went as a pair of dice (that's not correct is it?). I painted two boxes white and cut out black construction paper for the dots. Painted their faces black and their heads were the one dot. Pretty clever if I do say so myself.
