Hopefully she's a Zell Miller style ex-democrat, who actually had the principles to switch to the GOP.

Speaking of ex-democrats, did you know Jim Robinson was a democrat at one time. I even voted for Ross Parrot in 1992.

right who have been running roughshod on the FR threads today.

"Running roughshod" means "expressing your opinions".

Yes choice #5. I am disappointed that so many people here are jumping on this woman and the President when they can't possibly know anything about her. Sure I wish Bush had put a "Scalia-Thomas" up. But there are tons of people just like them, who aren't even known to be like them. I wish people would be rational enough to see what this lady is like before they throw their hands up and give up. I'd like to have had a fight and put a hard conservative in the rats faces and make them fight, but that didn't happen. So right now, we can either whine and moan like a bunch of old ladies, or we can pray this woman is a real firm conservative, like everyone who knows her has come out and said she is, and support her. She appears to be significantly more conservative than o'conner is, and that's a big win right there.

Rush is disagreeing with the Veep at every turn.

Rush is conveying his own sentiments without taking attribution for them. "People say....", "Some conservatives aren't happy..."; blah, blah blah.

Looks like the one wanting to back down from a fight here is Maha Rushie.

His argument that we might have to wait ten years to find out Harriet Miers is a great justice is nonsense. We'll find out when she writes her first opinion.

Kennedy was hailed as a great conservative when he was nominated look at what that got us.

"If Miers turns out to be a Luttig, Brown, Ted Olsen, Clarence Thomas type, will you still think as you do now?"

How many of them contributed to Gore, Bentsen the DNC and Kay Bailey Hutchison?

No, but we will have to WAIT AND SEE what she does. There is no history. I would have just rather had Luttig or Brown instead of "hoping" that we got a Luttig-Brown type.

I haven't heard facts here on this thread and it is extremely disappointing to hear so much criticsm when so little has been actually said about this nominee. We conservatives beat our own before the opening statements! Everyone here seems to have the "well if he doesn't pick someone off this list, that's it I'm through supporting our President". Well, that's just childish and not worthy of all our President has done. Yes, he has made mistakes, but none of us are in his shoes, make his decisions daily, or take the constant barrage of hatred from the left and the media and even his own supporters! Give the nominee a chance before you take out the guns and SHOOT HER DOWN!

It's call "Cohiba", "Partagas", and or "A. Fuente". According to the time of day.

It is amazing how his opinions change from day to night sometimes, also....he he...

Reid is singing her praises....btw...and then said he talked to Leahy (who is in Vermont!!!)...Senate in session today, so why is Leahy in Vermont? He isn't Jewish...

I know they aren't planning on having votes today, because of the Jewish holiday...but Leahy???

He is talking about Miers like she isn't even standing right next to him...what an idiot!!!

If that was a LEGITIMATE benchmark, I'd be concerned. Talk to Texas conservatives- the Democrats in the South were a different animal than nothern ones. Time was..back in the 80's..Gore was pro-life..pro-gun..

Finally Rush got to the point he should have mentioned before he began his attack on the President.

If the President nominated a known far right person he might have lost Collins, Snowe, Chaffee, etc.

What good does it do to have O'Connor sitting there endlessly while we spit into the wind.

The President made his choice and we shall see how she fares during the confirmation.

"I am disappointed that so many people here are jumping on this woman and the President when they can't possibly know anything about her."

We do know a little about her.

She gave money to Gore, Bentsen and the DNC. That doesn't sound terribly conservative to me.

She led the TX State Lottery Commission and contributed to Kay Bailey Hutchison That doesn't sound socially conservative to me.

She looks like a political opportunist to me with no real core beliefs. In the end I expect to learn that she is one of Laura Bush's very close friends.
