If Miers turns out to be a Luttig, Brown, Ted Olsen, Clarence Thomas type, will you still think as you do now?

No, but we will have to WAIT AND SEE what she does. There is no history. I would have just rather had Luttig or Brown instead of "hoping" that we got a Luttig-Brown type.

I wonder how much influence the "Super Duper" RINO Senators (Snowe, Collins, Chafee, Hagel, Specter...)had on the decision to nominate Miers?

There's something else about this that bothers me, more than not knowing her judicial views. And that is the message to all conservative judges that if you show courage at lower court levels, stick your neck out for strict constructionism, you will have no chance for advancement. How many smart, ambitious folks are going to want to issue controversial opinions or work with The Federalist Society if that means no GOP president will nominate you for a higher court? The pressure on the Supreme Court seems to be leftward, Kennedy and OConner didn't start out as weak sisters. I'd rather see someone who has shown they won't be pushed to the left, but that seems to be an automatic disqualification for nomination. Longterm, that can't be good.

The NE Rinos were out in full force saying they would not support a proven pro-life conservative.

I doubt Luttig or Brown would have been confirmed by the full Senate. If the Democrats held together and the Rinos voted in block a proven conservative stood no chance.

The fight would have been fun but because of the RINOs they would have failed.
