Yes choice #5. I am disappointed that so many people here are jumping on this woman and the President when they can't possibly know anything about her. Sure I wish Bush had put a "Scalia-Thomas" up. But there are tons of people just like them, who aren't even known to be like them. I wish people would be rational enough to see what this lady is like before they throw their hands up and give up. I'd like to have had a fight and put a hard conservative in the rats faces and make them fight, but that didn't happen. So right now, we can either whine and moan like a bunch of old ladies, or we can pray this woman is a real firm conservative, like everyone who knows her has come out and said she is, and support her. She appears to be significantly more conservative than o'conner is, and that's a big win right there.

We do know a little about her.

She gave money to Gore, Bentsen and the DNC. That doesn't sound terribly conservative to me.

She led the TX State Lottery Commission and contributed to Kay Bailey Hutchison That doesn't sound socially conservative to me.

She looks like a political opportunist to me with no real core beliefs. In the end I expect to learn that she is one of Laura Bush's very close friends.

I agree. I have been reading all of the posts this morning and two real-world issues are not being considered (by those who wanted an in-your-face nomination of a 'known' conservative):

1) The pick needs to be confirmed by a very squishy GOP Senate, and

2) The media will never allow a fair playing field for GWB to wage the battle everyone seems to be itching for.

I have to trust GWB on this one. He's known her for a long time.

2 more hours time hasn't led me yet to make a snap decision about support. I see no harm in waiting for facts to reveal themselves before either panicking or cheering.

Some things in life require instant decisions. This isn't one of them.
