The problem is that Bush has his own list, made of his faily's friends. Another Gonzales. We will see.

Looks like we got two Souters for the price of one.

I trust Ann Coulter's take on Roberts and I can't wait to hear what she has to say about this one.

Conformation. I meant "confirmation" but maybe this was a Freudian slip.

If it turns about that Miers is the nominee, and the Democrats don't put up a fuss about her, then we are in trouble.

Let's hold our fire until the actual nominee is announced. Remember that the MSM was fed the wrong name last time - that may be the case again.

That said, if it's Miers I will be very unhappy. I believe I heard a liberal talking head suggest that she would be an excellent choice for Bush to "maintain balance" on the court.

There were dozens of qualified conservative women judges he could have picked, if that was his goal.

Instead, he picked this childless non-entity who is his personal lawyer.

But it also means that we don't know anything about her next votes as Associate Justice!

" Senator, I know Antonin Scalia, and Harriet Miers is no Antonin Scalia !"

What makes me so fire spitting angry about this ridiculous choice is that W's COURAGE is what I loved about him the most. Choosing Meirs is an act of COWARDICE.

Be careful. You might get banned for such honesty.

She was on the Dems pre-approved list of acceptable candidates to them.

She donated to Algore and Bentsen in the 80s.

I voted for Yimmy Carter.....and have kicked myself for 30 years.....but that was then...

Shall we all be judged by youthful indiscretion?

My initial reaction was "oh no"...but I've been fooled before- I think he may have pulled a fast one on the libs with this pick. One ting I won't do- is go off the deep end and forget how much WORSE it would be were there a Democrat in the White House today.

It says Mrs. in 2000 while she was working for Lidell. Unless there are two Harriet Miers working for Lidell perhaps you should use better ratiocination before challenging someone.

Yes. They are really dumb aren't they? But I am having a harder time with everyone here assuming she's the one. Just because Rove had a picture with her over the weekend. Guess what? Rove had a picture with Edith C. the first time too. Remember he is an evil genius. :)
