If Planned Parenthood is against Miers, that makes me feel good...

What flavor are you drinking today, ray? Your favorite?

Ha ha! There is no reasoning with as I learned from other "debates". So, have your fun.

He knows the Dims like her, but HE knows her heart. The Dims may be VERY disappointed in Ms. Meirs, and Dubya will have the last laugh.

Got bigger and better things to be doing than watching the tube salivating over the next nominee.

ACLJ is for the nominee.

That's worth ten points in my book. Good news!

...though not ideologically conservative - nonetheless firmly pro-life. Plus she's a woman. Double plus - she'd be a huge surprise, and the president loves springing surprises on Washington and those pundits who think they know it all.

See post 615

Post 615: It would have been an anti-Reagan contribution for the most part..

This was my response in 677 to 615: Texas at the time, like all southern states was a one-party system. Maybe her donation to Al Gore was more for business purposes than for political beliefs. That's how democrats operate, after all, donate to us or you are our enemy.

I don't know how Miers will turn out, but the "damning" evidence against her isn't that damning, IMO. Gore, at the time, was a pro-life Democrat. If the donation came when Dukakis had the nomination in the bag, it seems obvious that she wasn't trying to get Gore elected. Why is that an "anti-Reagan" donation? Gore was running against Bush's daddy, IIRC.

"Exodus is a worldwide interdenominational, Christian organization called to encourage, strengthen, unify and equip Christians to minister the transforming power of the Lord Jesus Christ to those affected by homosexuality."

THAT'S IT ... I'M VOTING FOR HELLAY IN 08!!

This goes to the point as to why Bush's poll numbers are low. It isn't because he hasn't appealed to the Dems by letting Kennedy write the education bill, by adding a prescription drug package to mediscare that no one wants, by opening our boarders to illegal immigration, by giving away the store for Katrina relief, etc.

His poll numbers are low because he is losing his base. Karl Rove, genius? You have got to be kidding.

"There's nothing in her background that hints at involvement in conservative causes. If there is someone can bring it to our attention."

How about being on the board of directors of Exodus Ministries?

Exactly. I mean, I share the concerns -- but let's be honest: they're concerns, not truths. Yes, I'd rather see a 45-year history of aggressive, principled, considered Constitutionalism. But a heck of a lot of us here, for instance, are former Dems and former liberals.

Now, that she's reportedly 60, single, Christian, and some kind of active in Exodus International, really does raise some interesting changes about how many and which changes she's personally experienced.

It'll be an interesting month.

If Planned Parenthood is against Miers, that makes me feel good...

I think PP is against anyone who doesn't currently work in an abortion clinic; Miers' affiliation with Bush is certainly reason alone in their mind. There may be reasons to feel good, but this isn't one of them.

Conservatives are more patient than anyone gives them credit for.

I would hardly call the complete trashing of the president and this nominee in less than an hour by many on this board, as being "patient".

"Of course, if she turns out to be a stone cold conservative, i.e. Scalia, I’m taking this all back and saying Bush was brilliant.
I agree 100% with your post."

This will be good luck if it is, not leadership from GWB. The problem is that in his hierarchy of values, cronyism and having an easy confirmation rank significantly higher (SIGNIFICANTLY) than having the guts and vision to change the court for the better for decades.

This is truly pathetic.

But not even the slightest bit surprising.
