60 years old! This is such a lackluster pick. How disappointing. One of the few ways to build a legacy, and wasted at best.

If Bush were a democrat, FReepers would be livid.

Yep. I'm pretty close to that right now.

The Dims are going to LOVE this SC fight. They get a pick they will like but they still get to bash Bush in a faux fight.

Personally, I am hoping that Miers is just the bait. The Dems eased off on Roberts because they knew that this appointment will be the real battle. If the Dems grind Miers down to nothing, JBR might get the nomination and perhaps get confirmed as the switch.

I think this is going to be one ugly fight and it will be extremely important to keep track of who says what, and who stands up...*jaundiced eyes glaring at the RINOs*

his next SC nominee is going to go down in flames so he is offering her up as a sacrifice.

The only Senators who will be voting against her will be REPUBLICANS. What sense does that make?

George H. Bush selected Sutter, unmarried and he turned out to be the most liberal justice of them all. Now George W. Bush once again selected an unmarried candidate. Uhmmm!!!!

This is a big mistake. This is not an ideological pick, but rather she has been in the political track all her life.

I trust Ann Coulter's take on Roberts and I can't wait to hear what she has to say about this one.

I can tell you what Coulter's take will be if it turns out to be Miers. It will be the same emotional, knee-jerking type of response she had to Roberts.

The Constitution Party? No way. Americans want to win the war on terror, for starters.

Regrettably, it seems most 3rd parties tend to be more toward the Cindy Sheehan mentality on the WoT.

Were it not for the nutwing of the Dems, it is difficult to distinguish the elected Pubbies from Dems. To parrot the ole Patty Duke song:

They laugh alike, they walk alike,
At times they even talk alike --

I was reading a book about a 'child free' lifestyle. It was just weird and didn't leave me with a good feeling at all :( It made it seem like if you had children, you were throwing your freedom away.

There This isn't going to be a fight.

Miers will sail through, just like the last "conservative" (cough, cough) Chief Justice we just got scammed on.

Bush is an idiot. He's an idiot on the borders, idiot on taxes, idiot EXTRAORDINAIRE on SCOTUS.

The DUers are right about this guy when they question his intelligence, I'm afraid.

I've just looked her up on Open Secrets and she has never donated to anyone but Republicans.

If you're right...then that post should be pulled....

Please don't mention Ronald Reagan in same paragraph with this nominee.

Reagan switched during the Goldwater era because he seen what his party was turning into. Reagan agreed with Goldwater and the direction he wanted to take America. This was in 1964. The 1968 Democratic National Convention then proved to the world their radical anti-American agenda.

Considering the political donations given during the late 80's, this nominee apparently was still a DemonRat while Reagan was President. There is no way I can support this Supreme Court nominee.

If she is indeed the pick and sails through, It will be real fun to come back to this thread when she turns out to be in the Scalia/Thomas mold

I'm following your train of thought. How will the democrats justify voting for such a close associate of Bush when they can only guess at her potential voting record. On the other hand, this board indicates Republicans are deeply disappointed.

If Bush was trying to avoid controversy, he has failed.
