Miers is real buddy, buddy with Gonzalez. Take that for what it's worth.

Does anyone have the RNC contact info handy? I donated and have a couple of certificates to show for it. I'd like to call to voice my displeasure.

You did it incorrectly. Works fine for me. You have to select the election cycles to search.

"The fact that someone would need "inside info" to know anything about this woman shows that Bush made an awful pick."

Not necessarily. Limited info worked fairly well with Roberts.

I am not a "Bush-bot" and if this pick ends up being a closest leftie I'll be the first to complain. I just think it's wise to hold your fire until you are sure you are shooting at the enemy.

I have info on the Texas lotto goings on. I'm not posting it to avoid personal attacks.

"Count me in that camp. Roberts had the qualifications for the job and I consider him an excellent choice. Miers does not, and frankly it is not even close. Even the conservative legal sites are going nuts. Such a tremendous disappointment."

I think the FEd Soc and the ACLJ have come out pro...does that give you any comfort?

Where was Fed Soc on Souter? Anyone recall?

Hmmm ... where else have I seen this argument today?

"I do not know Ms. Miers well and I did not meet her until recently, six months after she became the White House counsel," he said. "What I do know is that she has a reputation for being loyal to this president, whom she has a long history of serving as a close adviser and in working to advance his objectives.

"In an administration intent on accumulating executive power, Ms. Miers' views on - and role in - these issues will be important for the Senate to examine," said Leahy. "It is important to know whether she would enter this key post with the judicial independence necessary when the Supreme Court considers issues of interest to this administration."

Nice company you're keeping there, Mr. Rock-Ribbed conservative...

I'll wait for more information before passing judgement.

Aw, that's no biggie. My best friend is a liberal but is one of the best people I have ever known. You can't always judge people based on their friends. I like to tell my friend, "I love you, but you are wrong". Works for us.

The point is even Bush's supporters have a breaking point and nominating Miers is it.

You know nothing about her. You must have a very short breaking point. Twice a year we go through this on FR, and it always shkeas out the same. In addition, if you shadowed the Bush campaign, and hung around his people for that long, one would think you would have the capacity to give W the benefit of the doubt. None of your posts have demonstrated one reason why we shouldnt. Further, if you are going to cut and run 4 friggin hours after the announcement, perhaps your commitment could use some starch. On the other hand, the Dolphins were a great idea, werent you guys in Jefferson City,MO? And therein lies my point, if you are going to don Chalie the Friggin Tuna suits in the Summer for W, you could wait at least until the hearings to bail on us..

If they told him not to pick Luttig or Jones and that they wouldn't support them, they were bluffing, and Bush should have called that bluff.

There's no way Specter risks losing his chairmanship and McCain undermines his candidacy by crossing Bush on this issue.

John Kerry and Teddy Kennedy are "members" of the Catholic Church, but that does not influence their beliefs one bit. I don't know what she "is", conservative, liberal or otherwise.

The fact that the President is compelled to keep picking stealth candidates is what worries me. Souter was a stealth candidate, and all this pick does is advertise the President's insecurities.

He should have come out with a straight right to the jaw, put up a JR Brown, and told 'em to "Bring it on". Socialists only understand one thing, brute force.

Her positions? HA LOLOL Tell me what her positions are then dirtbag. I know this, she's a professional lefty appeasing administrator, not nearly as good a nominee as the other females that could have been named, such as Brown, Jones, Owens, Williams, and Sykes.

You've demonstrated no understanding whatsoever of the courts. And yes, many people besides myself are projecting how history will record this nomination. We aren't *tools*, like a no-experience donkey like yourself.

How many times have you appeared as an advocate before a judge any judge, much less a judge on the SCOTUS? Why should I or anyone else listen to you?

ROFLMAO.

Let's not be so sure that Ginsburg and Stevens won't outlast Bush. This, sadly, is probably Bush's last pick.

The only way that's going to happen is if (a) the DemonRATs retake the House in 2006 and (b) you find 67 Senators willing to "convict" him of whatever political Impeachment articles they throw up to stick on the wall.

Rush just said on his show that the person who donated to the Clintoon wasn't this Miers.

Call him and inform him that he is wrong.

Exactly. I totally agree. People can agree to disagree on "the way she would interpret the constitution". These attacks on her marital status and age (and even her looks!) are totally disgusting. Nothing more than klan-like in their behavior.
