He thinks for himself. All here deserve the same courtesy. If you believe the war for the lives of countless millions is lost you cannot be part of the victory. It's not a matter that is settled and will never be as long as we codefy in our law that children's lives are to be traded for women's convenience.

He has calculated it will minimize his trouble in fighting with the left
I've watched your posts over time and respect you as a FReeper. Given what you've said concerning Bush and Miers should we expect the real fight to be among the Republicans on the Judiciary committee?

Well, "We The People" don't nominate or vote for judges. We just elect those who do. What's so difficult about this connection for you??? If we elect folks we have a right to expect them to perform to our expectations or at least the core values we based our vote on. Otherwise we would have elected someone else....If not why not have a lottery or flip a coin?
Later, I gotta go earn a living to pay for New Orleans

I am suggesting you stop throwing insults out there at everyone including the nominee that does not think in lock step with you.
You are delusional. The insults are coming at anyone who doesn't like the pick. That's how I got involved to begin with, getting personally attacked for criticizing public figures and their choices.
You are being unfair to The President and his nominee, and you can disagree all you want, but be fair about it.
In all fairness, the pick sucks. Better?
Democrats are the ones that behave so unfairly, except one Republican or so called Republican Pat Buchanan.
Democrats like this pick and they told Bush they'd be happy with it. Do you stop and wonder why that is so, or do just just go along with everything and jump on others who don't?
To: over3Owithabrain
Bob Bechel just said this pick was a "relief" for democrats...that gives me pause.

That story is the one which "conservatives" here at FR will be telling. I don't know which group of Know-Nothings hates and distrusts Bush more.
To: newzjunkey
What I see here on this topic are a pile of apologists who are willing to accept any name Bush tosses out.
And the reverse appears to be so for some on this forum.. Wouldn't you agree?

No, I do not think there will be much opposition from Republicans on the Judiciary Committee. They will be good soldiers and move to rapidly confirm.
The fallout will be among the conservative wing of the rank and file Republicans. At this time we can only hope, not know, but hope Ms.Miers will be a conservative. We had such high hopes with Jones, Brown, Luddig...proven quantities. Like the bee that flew above a field of beautiful flowers in full bloom and landed on a cowpattie. I don't mean that to disparage Ms.Miers, but just to say we had a target rich envionment of strict constructionists and he chose the unknowable.
I think this will be the reason or excuse for real conservatives to look at the Constitution party or other conservative organizations who can be trusted to do what they say they will do. This choice was to avoid a fight with the dems. I believe President Bush is exhausted and was not wanting to fight. But what else is the Presidency, but a fight for certain ideologies to prevail and cerain ideologies to be crushed. We gave him the White House, The Senate and The House. He is giving us the status quo. John Roberts = Renquist. Miers = OConnor. What a shame to miss the opportunity at greatness. This is something Jimmy CArter would have done. Or Clinton. Greatness is most often demonstrated with bold decisive action. This was go-along-to-get-along. This is the preeminent missed opportunity to do the right thing...and President Bush missed the mark by a country mile. And your children and grandchildren will be the ones to pay the price. What a shame.

Harry Reid likes her too. Bush gave the libs someone to rubber stamp. No vetoes, spend all you want, who do you want for SCOTUS. Call me names and trash my constituents. Mock God and America, no problem. Bend over conservatives, this one's gonna sting. Maybe Brother Bill can put some ice on it after 18 holes with pappy.

Now that breaks my heart. I would hope there would be a nanny problem (Zoe Baird) but without a husband or children not likely. Time to make some calls and send some emails.

Les Miserables replies, "If you believe the war for the lives of countless millions is lost you cannot be part of the victory."
I am usually a positive attitude thinking person, but yes, I sadly believe the war to save the lives of countless millions of unborn babies is lost in these United States, you can fight it all you want and I will support those who do, however, I honestly believe that it is a lost cause, there will be no victory for us who believe abortion is murder.
But, I firmly believe that God will deal with those who murder unborn babies.

I agree - abortion will be legal and common for as long as America exists. So will high taxes, big government spending, open boreders, etc.
Conservatism is dead. We now have "compassionate conservatism", ie liberalism in a GOP business suit.
To: over3Owithabrain
"This is a good first day"
So says Chuck Shumer. He is practically glowing on the Miers nomination. He says only Miers and Callahan were reasonable choices on the list of otherwise "hard-hard extreme" potential nominees.

I looked at the Senate schedule last night....and it said that the Senate was supposed to be starting at 10:00 AM---
so far, nothing....and C-span today has no C-span 2 schedule up...
