Bush is picking a filibuster proof nominee.

Yeah? So? The Democrats promised last week they'd filibuster the next nominee, no matter who it is. Quit your complaining.

No, she is simply another half-liberal lawyer of Bush's family.

What don't you give it a rest? You honestly believe that Bush made the BEST pick? He's operating from a position of weakness. He doesn't want a fight.

You cannot IMAGINE how much I hope it IS Miguel Estrada!

But Miguel has already been crushed so badly by people like my own Senator, Evan 'the weak' Bayh, etc. So I doubt it...but DO KNOW..that our President could care less about the immaturity and lack of integrity in dem senators who consistently put their party above our nation.

I don't care if our President picks a person who is pink, orange, male, female, whatever.

I pray he chooses a person who understands our constitution and one who is not swayed, EVER, by PC crap.

God Bless our TROOPS, our PRESIDENT, his ADMINISTRATION and especially John Roberts as he begins his first day on the SUPREME COURT.

God certainly, CERTAINLY, gave us the right leader for our times.

Thank You Father for the leadership and statesmanship of President Bush.

This nomination will allow the Democrats to talk about all of Bush's actions in recent years.

Expect the hearings to be about the conduct of the Iraq War and the detainees - anything in which the legal counsel gets involved in.

I don't care. She is not my pick. She is the President's pick. Paper trail, shmaper trail. If she has the correct judicial philosophy, that is all that he promised.

I think we all just want to know more about her, and in the coming weeks we will see what happens.

And you know she's liberal how? Oh, right. You don't know. You're speculating.

No, she is simply another half-liberal lawyer of Bush's family.

Judging from your tagline, you wouldn't be happy no matter what.

You are so full of it. Bush has picked someone he knows, and who shares his philosophy. If he is trying to avoid a fight, picking someone who is a long-time friend on the heels of the "cronyism" charge is not the way to do it.

Looking at a few leftist sites, this implies that she is gay.

The leftists think anybody who hasn't married by 40 is gay. More likely it just implies that she has a sh**ty personality.

You know absolutely nothing about it. That you have proven every time you open your mouth.

Janice Rogers Brown and Harriet Miers are both "gals" if you choose to go down that road in describing people. But you played one off against the other...great judge verses the low word gal. The word gal is a low word, not a high word or compliment. Everybody knows that.

Like I said, don't insult my intelligence. Don't mess with ME, a pure, true Texan.

I will not knowingly post to you again. Please return the favor.

I'm no Bush Hater, but this doesn't sound too promising. There were better choices out there than Harriet Miers.

I don't think she is the pick. When Roberts was named, we all thought one of the Edith's would be one of the justices, no one knew it was Roberts until he was named. Media is running with rumor. In fact IIRC the WH had pictures of Bush with one of the Edith's and the media just knew it was going to be that one. Surprise! Bush tricked them again.

"Bush supreme court pick 8 a.m ... Betcha the process started at 12:30 pm Jan. 20, 2001."

Agreed. He had his short list long ago. But I'll bet the final selection was not made until it was clear how the Roberts confirmation would proceed. These decisions are always political.

What I have always found interesting is that getting nominees approved has always been difficult. Of Eisenhower's five SCOTUS nominees, three were recess appointments. All were subsequently approved.

What does this mean? That getting your SCOTUS nominees approved always required some deftness on the part of the President.

I hope this turns out to be White House disinformation, and that JRB is the nominee.
