I think you are right, Hair, in the pic of it in post #48, Ethan Allen looks like she might be kind of unstable. I don't doubt that with a full complement of passengers, she was overloaded. I'm still very curious to find out what exactly went wrong, how close the offending other boat passed her at what speed, etc.

It's apparently all glassed in where you see openings, too.... which makes it really bad to get out of.

From a legal standpoint, which boat is responsible?

I googled for the boat and it doesn't look like it can hold 50 passengers... ...keel side down.

Caught in wake of another boat. They are cracking down on speeding watercraft on New Hampshire lakes...interested to see the details of this accident; especially regarding the "other boat".

This is horrible. Prayers for all involved.
Hard to imagine even small boat full of people being overturned like that. Must have been some wave/wake.

I'm glad we took the Mohican when we visited Lake George.

I'm monitoring Warren County sheriff dept and local emergency traffic including helo flights on my scanners and comm equipment... The number of fatalities is going to be more than 15 I'm afraid.
Also, some speculation that the boat may have capsized due to many passengers moving towards one side of the craft as it was laking its initial turn out of port.

After a moment of silence he said there are NO coast guard on the lake. As far as I know, CG is routinely involved -only- on waters that can facilitate interstate traffic/commerce.

From a legal standpoint, which boat is responsible? I'm no lawyer, but looking at the pictures, there seems to be a prima facie case that the Ethan Allen was overcrowded. I seriously doubt that the Mohican can generate a sizeable wake.
