On the local news it was reported that a woman took her 80-year old mother on the cruise to celebrate her 80th birthday. Her mother was one of the ones that perished.

So many personal sad stories like that.

Let's pray for all.

How many were?

Handicapped + boat = lifejacket.

Am I the only one that finds it odd that any boat capsizes simply from the wake of another boat?

"Like the Maid of the Mist under Niagara Falls".

Exactly. And like riding the ferry from the parking lot to Disney World. You just don't wear life vests.

This was just a horrible accident. Too bad people have to turn a tragedy in a preaching platform.

I wasn't "preaching". I just wondered how they died. If life jackets were available and they chose not to wear them, that was their choice. I don't think people should be forced. It just seemed an exceedingly high number of fatalities.

Also reporting conflicting reports regarding the Mohican being involved and that it may have been another craft - most likely a large speed boat - speeding by the Ethen Allen.

It could have been both. Wakes of two boats, such as the
Mohican and a speedboat crossing each other, could cause
a higher wave than either of them could make separately.

I hope I am not double posting but I don't see my reply to you here.

I apologize. I did not mean you were preaching at all. I just happened to post shortly after you (o: Some earlier posts got sidetracked by the life preserver issue.

I guess the death toll is high because it was elderly people. What a tragedy.

Hillary has never had a unique thought or action. She started out copying Marx/Engels, now its Mary L.

What a state! This is terrible and it just keeps piling on.

Hillary, Schumer, Pataki an emasculated NYS Republican party and now this.

I keep saying - give the whole shebang back to the Senecas or whatever native tribe. Maybe they can fix it.

Very tragic. Praying for the survivors. In a situation like this there probably isn't going to be a good outcome. Drowning, being trapped, hypothermia, heart stress.....
