From Staff Reports
NORMAN -- An explosion near the University of Oklahoma's Gaylord Family-Memorial Stadium killed one person Saturday, OU officials said.

The explosion happened at the courtyard near the George Lynn Cross Hall, Botany-Microbiology Building on OU's campus, which is west of the stadium, according to Sgt. Gary Robinson of the University police department.

The explosion happened during the second quarter of Oklahoma's game against Kansas State.

After the explosion, police set up a perimeter of several blocks and made fans exit the stadium to the east.

On game days that part of the campus is anything but serene. It is right across from the stadium. Now I know why some of the local media are starting to ask tougher questions.

I watched a replay of the game on TV, and those cannons were really loud. On the other hand, I was listening closely through the last 10 minutes of the half, and didn't hear ANYTHING that sounded like an explosion.

Has anybody else listened to the replay of the game and pinpointed the sound of the explosion on the broadcast?

I don't know if this was a suicide bomber.

I don't know if he was enven Muslim.

What I DO know is that the U.S. continues to flirt with death and catatrophy by continuing to allow Muslims into America at this point in their cultural "evolution."

I'm not trying to sugar coat anything here but again the police will use bomb removal equipment for chemicals or gunpowder if they feel there is a chance of it exploding. We see it here in AZ all the time on the news when they are clearing out a meth house. If this student had left over materials from the bomb in his apartment, they may have been removing this.
I checked KFOR's web page and didn't see anything about a recent explosion on there (of course they still haven't ID'd the student from last night so who knows maybe their web department is closed on Sundays).

"Sorry if this has been posted before, but another website is saying it is confirmed that Islamic and jihad materials were removed from the suspect's apartment.

If that is so (and the other site is certain of this), then it sounds like the authorities are in "spin" mode. . ."

can u get a link to the site?

Those sorry @astards. I want and deserve to know if it's the islamist. To hell with their spin. We have a right to know what's going on in our country, on our streets and in our neighborhoods.

OK...I've switched to the tin-foil side. Something is going on.

Yes, well, my son is quite oblivious to his surroundings most times - just passing along the closest thing I have to a local report...

more explosions? of what?

the university has to play up the "depressed, troubled" angle. what can they say, that he was some cheerful well adjusted guy who just went out and blew himself up next to the stadium. it just doesn't fit the story. now that's not to say that he might not be troubled, but how do they know unless they talk to people who knew him.

I admit I am getting jumpy. After reading that, I fail to comprehend how everything is going on as normal on campus tomorrow. Why do I get the feeling that the Administration is not being straight?

On the news tonight, the media is beginning to ask the tough questions and their interviews with people who knew Hinrich do not coincide with the Administrations answers.

I was at the game, and the fireworks they shoot off at kickoffs and touchdowns are not really that loud. We heard, and felt the explosion, though. It was very different from the game pyrotechnics.

why would one think the MSM would cover up a terrorist bombing attempt?

One wouldn't, but they get their information, most of it anyway and all of it early on, from the authorities. There's were to look for the "maintaining calm" restrictions on information. They have all sorts of reasons for not coming clean. For one thing, if it was a terrorist attempt, it represents a failure to do their job of protecting the country from outside, and in the case of local authorities, internal threats.
