From Staff Reports
NORMAN -- An explosion near the University of Oklahoma's Gaylord Family-Memorial Stadium killed one person Saturday, OU officials said.

The explosion happened at the courtyard near the George Lynn Cross Hall, Botany-Microbiology Building on OU's campus, which is west of the stadium, according to Sgt. Gary Robinson of the University police department.

The explosion happened during the second quarter of Oklahoma's game against Kansas State.

After the explosion, police set up a perimeter of several blocks and made fans exit the stadium to the east.

Has college come to this?

Remember that grad student (Cinese guy? Physics?) that killed a rival a few years ago?

Good advice. First reports are not the most trustworthy.

The MSM proven to be decidely even less trustworthy especially after coverage of the hurricane.

What we know for sure, is there was an explosion.

My husband's been listening to the game on the radio, and the announcers haven't said a word about it. Only that the fans aren't allowed to exit in a certain area. Don't know if that means they don't know anything or just aren't saying anything.

They're still playing, so it couldn't have been too bad.

No one will be allowed to exit on the west side.

I'm sure it won't be a problem. If I rembmer the OU campus, all the college bars are north---not west---of the stadium.

I'm guessing most of the fans will be going north after the game.

I was wrong. The building where the bombing occured is very near the stadium- football stadium. I had looked at another sports facility.

To elaborate, I'm watching the game on Fox Sports Southwest right now. The announcers aren't even talking about whatever this was, and nobody seems concerned in the stands.

And both coincide this year with the Christian feast of St. Francis of Assisi: we all need to pray with him "Lord, make me an instument of your peace...."

would this date have any significance to Islamofascists?

Today (until sundown Saturday) is Shaban 27, 1426 AH. Shaban is the 8th month. Don't know whether that's a significant date or not.

The microbiology building is right across the street from the stadium and the parking lot for VIP attendees to the game.

Building number 31 looks fairly close to the stadium. Not right next to it, but not too far. Your map confirms the news reports that police are not letting anyone out the west side of the stadium.
