"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Home grown Islamists may hit US: FBI chief
Full Story

WASHINGTON -- The United States could be attacked by "home grown" Islamist terror groups, the FBI's chief has warned.

FBI Director Robert Mueller told the London Financial Times newspaper in an interview published Thursday that the United States could face attacks from "home-grown terrorism" very similar to the July 7 bombings in London that killed 52 people and wounded another 700, Mueller said.

When asked if the United States could face such attacks from "home-grown groups", Mueller answered emphatically: "Absolutely, it could," the Financial Times said.

"Faridpur blast kingpin held
CDs, books on Jihad seized from the JMB cadre's house; Ctg serial bombing charge sheet framed"

Tuesday October 25 2005 00:56:52 AM BDT

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Police yesterday arrested a member of Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) with huge CDs on warfare and jihad along with letters written in Arabic in Faridpur.(The Daily Star )

Police said the arrestee, Mizanur Rahman Mukul alias Moabia, 30, coordinated bombings at eight spots in Faridpur on August 17.

In Chittagong, Bandar Police Station yesterday submitted a charge sheet in connection with the August 17 blasts, while five police stations -- Kotwali, Panchlaish, Pahartali, Bakalia and Halishahar -- submitted final reports with recommendation for release of 15 arrestees.

On information, Kotwali police raided Mukul's South Jhiltuli house in the town, arrested him and seized over 100 books on jihad, letters, and CDs on wars in Afghanistan, Chechnya, Kashmir and Palestine, reports A Correspondent in Faridpur.

One of books was authored by Mullah Mohammad Umar, head of the then Taliban-led government in Afghanistan.

Police said the bombs exploded in Faridpur were brought from Dhaka through a courier service. They claimed to have seized the cartons in which the bombs were sent to the district.

Police sources said Mukul used to take local youths to Ukhia in Cox's Bazar and other JMB dens in Chittagong in the name of study tours."

Iranian agents in U.S?
United Press International (Excerpt) ^ | October 25, 2005 | Claude Salhani

Posted on 10/25/2005 10:20:47 PM PDT by HAL9000

Excerpt -

Iranian Intelligence agents have entered the United States to
spread disinformation, according to the Iran Policy Committee,
a group composed mostly of former U.S. government officials
who are lobbying the Bush administration for regime change in
Teheran.

The agents, who reportedly flew into the United States from
Toronto, Canada, using Dutch and British passports, held a
news conference at the National Press Club in Washington
Monday -- except no press showed up. When opponents of the
Tehran regime who were present took photos and videos, the
agents tried to have security officers confiscate the films and
tape.

The Iran Policy Committee believes the agents are in the
country as "a disinformation ploy mounted by the new
president of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who is mobilizing
Iranian intelligence services in a world-wide series of probes
against the United States."

The IPC is also lobbying the Bush administration to take the
Mujahedeen-e-Khlaq, or MeK, off the terrorist list.

Bigger, Stronger Homemade Bombs Now to Blame
for Half of US Deaths (Iran aids Zarqawi)
WP ^ | October 26 2005 | John Ward Anderson

Posted on 10/25/2005 8:06:27 PM PDT by jmc1969

BAGHDAD, Oct. 25 -- After 31 months of fighting in Iraq, more than
half of all American fatalities are now being caused by powerful
roadside bombs that blast fiery, lethal shrapnel into the cabins of
armored vehicles, confronting every patrol with an unseen, menacing
adversary that is accelerating the U.S. death toll.

It took about 18 months from the start of the March 2003 invasion of
Iraq to reach 1,000 U.S. deaths; it took less than 13 months to reach
1,000 more. A major reason for the surge, statistics show, is the
insurgency's embrace of IEDs, together with the military's inability to
detect them.

"It's the dreaded IED that's killing our soldiers," said Michael White,
the creator of http://icasualties.org , a Web site that tracks U.S.
military casualties. "I read in the paper that we have some new device
to detect them, or we're taking extra care to make sure we don't get
hit, and death after death keeps coming in, and it's IEDs."

According to a former Iraqi army officer who lives in the insurgent
stronghold of Ramadi and is now a member of al Qaeda in Iraq, the
group headed by Abu Musab Zarqawi, insurgents have advanced
beyond the crude bombs they once used, such as dynamite or
gunpowder mixed with nails and buried beside a road. Now, he said in
an interview, militants have access to TNT from Iran that he said was
about seven times stronger than the TNT available in Iraq. He said
they were also using old Austrian missiles from the former Iraqi army
and detonating them with electric wires, cell phones and other
remote-control devices.

BAGHDAD, Iraq -- Three car bombs detonated near the Palestine and Sheraton hotels in central Baghdad early Oct. 24.

About five minutes later a second car bomb approached the square and tried to maneuver through the breach but was engaged by civilian security forces and detonated near the 14th Ramadan Mosque.

Thirty seconds later, a Task Force Baghdad Soldier engaged a cement truck that was moving through the breached wall. The truck exploded near a coalition vehicle causing moderate damage.

U.S. SOLDIERS FIND, DESTROY ROADSIDE BOMBS

BAGHDAD, Iraq -- Task Force Baghdad Soldiers sealed off a road in west Baghdad Oct. 24 after finding two large explosive devices rigged to explode.

The patrol first reported finding an improvised explosive device in the median of the road. A short time later, they discovered another about 10 meters away.

To ensure the safety of the local residents along the busy road, the U.S. Soldiers cordoned off the area and called in an explosives ordnance disposal team to take care of the IED.

The EOD team recovered 12 60 mm mortar rounds with a timing device.

In other combat operations Oct. 23, a Task Force Baghdad patrol in northwest Baghdad found an IED comprised of a 152 mm round encased in a concrete block with wires protruding from the end. The Soldiers detained a suspicious man who was mixing concrete nearby. Along with the incomplete IED, the patrol found two AK-47 assault rifles and 400 rounds of ammunition.

Another U.S. patrol west of Baghdad found an anti-tank mine wired to batteries in a plastic bag. An EOD team later destroyed the IED.

Around the same time on Oct. 23, another Task Force Baghdad patrol on a combat mission found two 130 mm rounds rigged for remote-controlled detonation alongside a road north of Baghdad. EOD also disposed of that IED.

TERRORIST STRONGHOLD RAIDED

BAGHDAD, Iraq – Coalition forces raided three suspected terrorist safe houses, detained six terrorists, and killed several others in the town of al Ushsh, northwest al Qaim Oct. 25.

Acting on multiple intelligence sources and tips from concerned citizens, Coalition forces raided the safe houses suspected to be a terrorist stronghold used to conduct attacks against local Iraqi citizens, Iraqi security and Coalition forces.

Upon arriving at the suspected terrorist safe house, Coalition forces entered the safe house where armed terrorists were located with women and children. As a result of the ensuing exchange of gunfire between the terrorists and Coalition forces, the suicide vest of one of the terrorists was detonated, causing the building’s roof to collapse.

The women and children were rescued from the rubble and treated by medical personnel. The group was then moved to a safe area.

Coalition forces then moved to two additional suspected safe houses and secured and searched them, detaining six terrorists.

Upon departing the terrorist stronghold, Coalition forces called in close air support and destroyed the three buildings.

Thanks for the ping on that story Granny. I have a classmate that works for McGrath's (not the one mentioned in the article). He told me about this a few days ago. After hearing some of the stories that he told me about the employees at that place, I will think twice about eating there again. It's too bad, because they are pretty nice restaurants. So, I doubt there is anything fishy (bad pun) going on at McGraths. Unless the Rajneeshis are at it again...LOL...

Russia holds former U.S. prisoner (Only one type of
'good' Islamonazi....dead)
UPI ^ | 10/25/2005

Posted on 10/25/2005 11:06:53 PM PDT by jb6

MOSCOW, Oct. 25 (UPI) -- Russia is holding a former U.S. prisoner
from Guantanamo Bay in the attack this month in the southern
Russian town of Nalchik in which 128 people died.

Rasul Kudayev, who was returned to Russia in February last year, was
detained on Sunday at his home in Nalchik, say his mother and
lawyer, reports The Times of London.

Russian media said the 24-year-old was arrested on suspicion of
taking part in the Oct. 13 raid on Nalchik, capital of the
Kabardino-Balkariya republic. His lawyer Clive Stafford Smith said the
allegations were based on a groundless tip-off.

Stafford Smith, who is with a British charity, is helping Kudayev and
six other Russian Guantanamo prisoners to sue the United States over
their treatment.

Kudayev was among those arrested by U.S. as "enemy combatants" in
Afghanistan in 2001 and taken to Guantanamo Bay.
