The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Home grown Islamists may hit US: FBI chief

WASHINGTON -- The United States could be attacked by "home grown" Islamist terror groups, the FBI's chief has warned.

FBI Director Robert Mueller told the London Financial Times newspaper in an interview published Thursday that the United States could face attacks from "home-grown terrorism" very similar to the July 7 bombings in London that killed 52 people and wounded another 700, Mueller said.

When asked if the United States could face such attacks from "home-grown groups", Mueller answered emphatically: "Absolutely, it could," the Financial Times said.

Oct. 7th, has several points of interest.

Both Egypt and Italy are under threat.

Palestine terrorists, now, al Qaida is there and active.

London was July 7th, 2005.

October 7th, 1985 Achille Lauro hi-jacked.

I have the idea that they choose a date, add 2 or 4 days to it and that is when they strike.

Or so it seemed about a year and a half ago, this is only a thought in my head, as we watched posted days passed, no strike, then 2 or 4 days later, a big hit some where.

The real problem, if you think you have an idea of the plan, is knowing where........it will be.

As I say, this is my thought on dates.

If you use the the 7th, then you get 9 or 11.......those numbers again.

I talk numbers, but do not have either knowledge or great belief in them, LOL, you have to admit playing with numbers is fun.

The lady who is on the radio programs, that I have heard a couple times and can never keep up with her reasoning, is either called 'the numbers lady' or her website is.

I suspect all of their bombs will be remote controlled and I am wondering if counter measures can diable the hundreds of school bus radios that have been stolen in the last six months. I was in Las Vegas last month and saw a news report of school bus radios stolen there. I have not forgotten about the hundreds stolen in California.

Labyrinthos: Seems to me that if AQ had the ability to carry out a major attack -- that is, an attack capable of killing hundreds, if not thousands -- they would have gone into motion right after Katrina in order to exploit the situation.

JustPiper: I tend to agree Laby... was my first thought when I heard about subways, well actually, bio/chem was first thought

I'm not so sure that they'd necessarily have hit right after Katrina - they might not have had all of their assets in place, plus from their point of view Ramadan would definitely be a more propitious time for such things.

However I agree that it makes no sense to piddle around with bombing a subway or two if you're going to blow up the whole city anyway.

I've also often looked in at WND, but they're not a particularly reliable source. Sometimes they get things spectacularly right; sometimes they get them spectacularly wrong. Probably more often the latter for stories like this. I suspect that there's an awful lot of smoke and disinformation out there, not only from al Qaeda but also from all of the various national intelligence agencies (including our own). Keep your opponents guessing about your next move, mislead them about your true capabilities (hiding capabilities you have while making it appear you have others that you don't), then hit them when and where they don't expect it.

Let's hope the "al Qaeda Nuke" story is one of the latter ...

During a traffic stop related to that call, police found a man and a severely beaten woman inside a car. The woman told police there was a bomb in the vehicle.

Sheriff Roy Dominguez said three explosive devices were detonated by police.

Names of the suspect and other details were not available at press time.

3rd SUSPECT NABBED IN SUBWAY TERROR PLOT

NEW YORK (AP) — The investigation into an alleged plot to bomb the city's subway moved forward on several fronts Friday as a third suspect was arrested in Iraq and authorities looked into whether a fourth person had traveled to New York as part of the scheme, officials said.

A law enforcement official familiar with the case said the man's trip to New York was described by an informant who had spent time in Afghanistan and proved reliable in past investigations.

"He's been a source of multiple correct information in the past," the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the continuing investigation. "Does that mean a fourth person he identified is in fact in New York? We don't know that."

The official added that authorities had not confirmed whether the fourth man even exists.

Alarmed by the informant's report of a plot to attack city subways with as many as 19 bombs in bags and possibly baby strollers, U.S. forces in Iraq arrested two suspected plotters who had been under close surveillance until Thursday morning, officials said. The third escaped until his arrest Friday.

City officials posted thousands of additional uniformed and plainclothes officers throughout the subway system and warned New Yorkers to keep their eyes open for anything out of the ordinary.

The announcement sparked behind-the-scenes jostling with security officials in Washington, who downplayed the threat and suggested that Mayor Michael Bloomberg may have overreacted.

Bloomberg and Police Commissioner Ray Kelly vigorously defended their reaction Friday.

"We did exactly the right thing," Kelly said.

Those arrested had received explosives training in Afghanistan, a law enforcement official said Friday. They had planned to travel through Syria to New York, and then meet with an unspecified number of operatives to carry out the bombings. The official said that the threat was "specific to place," and that the window for the attack was anywhere from Friday through at least the weekend......

The baby stroller alert on the N.Y. Subway threat, has sparked one of my "I almost recall" thoughts.

Some where in the last 2 months, a female, mother, with a baby in a stroller, was stopped, she was equipped to be a suicide bomber.....

I may have read it on some chat site, as what I recall is
how shocked the posters were, that a mother would have the
child with her.

I suspect that it was a Palestine woman headed into Israel.
