Chief Justice Roberts. Chief Justice Roberts. Chief Justice Roberts.
Everytime I read it, I think of Dread Pirate Roberts.

If you had been about 2 minutes quicker with this, we wouldn't have had split Live Threads :-)

No, no, no! Chief Justice of the UNITED STATES!!!
There's an official judicial oath Monday at the Supreme Court, then he gets his snazzy robe. :-)
To: Graymatter
If indeed Rhenquist was involved in making Roberts chief then he also knew how controversial Chief Justice Scalia would have been.
Today is a good day...REJOICE : )))

Stevens swears him in That makes sense since Stevens is the Senior tenure SCOTUS Justice, even though he is a raging liberal.
Just trying to deflect the knee jerk reaction and those of a certain tin foil crowd who will find a conspiracy in that and post ad nauseum.(Stevens swearing in Roberts)

There is absolutely NO reason to believe he is anything similar to Souter, let alone a Souter clone.
Except for that pro-bono homo thing that has never been given a satisfactory answer.

I thought it was great that he mentioned the word "prayer" a few times. A few heads at DU probably exploded.
I also thought it funny that he mentioned JP Stevens was into his 30th year on the Supreme Court. My devious mind immediately thought we'll have another seat real soon.

He was nervous. Never heard him misspeak before. He referred to the Capitol as the home of the Executive branch. Must be flying high. It has to be quite a rush to become one of such a small fraternity - 17th CJUS.
