DiCaprio is Theodore Roosevelt
Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese have been named by Paramount Pictures to respectively star and direct in the adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning Edmund Morris book The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt, says Variety.
The film adaptation, currently being written by Nicholas Meyer (The Human Stain), will chronicle the political career of Roosevelt (DiCaprio), from a slight and privileged New York politician with a Harvard degree, right up to his ascension to the White House as the 26th U.S. president.
At present, DiCaprio and Scorsese are working on their third film together - after Gangs of New York and The Aviator - entitled The Departed, the Warner Bros. remake of the Hong Kong crime drama Infernal Affairs.
Thanks! My memory was misinformed on that allegation. Glad Sinise is not a leftist. He is a rare bird in Hwood.
Here's what moves me the most...did you see (for everyone else, #57) where he chanels the goods so the miliary can distribute them and lift their own spirits???
He doesn't come in like some big star, saying, "HERE...THIS IS FROM ME!!!" He has the soldiers do the distribution.
I think this guy is MAGNIFICENT!!!
I know that I am one of the few of like Leo... but, I think he will do a great job.
What a bizarre duo this has become. Scorsese must be infatuated but I can't figure out with what...a shame all around.
Sounds like one them 'serious' movies that is usally released just prior to or during the end-of-the-year Holiday Season.
Martin Scorsese continues to search for that illusive Oscar.
Interesting how people's opinions diverge.
I was appalled (and bored) by The Aviator on all levels. Casting, cinematography, narrative---all mediocre at best. I have always pulled for Scorsese and his marvelous gifts in the past. This little fixation on DiCaprio he's formed is bizarre given thet Dicaprio is miserable as an actor.
More bizarro casting news - I just saw a commercial where that fey creepy sissy Joaquin Phoenix is actually starring in a movie as Johnny Cash.
"My old buddy Marty is lookin' for an Oscar. Youse guys better come across with it. BTW............are you talkin' to me?"
I agree. The entire miniseries was tremendous, IMHO.
I was just looking for my copy 2 days ago. Can't find it!
"DiCaprio as Teddy Roosevelt! Now THATS funny!"
Brian Keith did a great job portraying TR in the Sean Connery-Candice Bergen flick, "The Wind and the Lion".
"In the movie, a female Democrat and peace activist travels through time correcting what once went horribly wrong."
Jennifer Love Hewitt
Yet another early colaboration between Marty and Bobby.
I was beginning to think I was the only freeper who thought that Leo did a great job in The Aviator. He was also great in "Catch Me If You Can". He's a serious actor, and it will be interesting to see him play the part.
Isn't JLH a Republican?
Someone said, "DiCaprio is over six feet tall?!" Bull****!
He's a little bitty boy/man, well UNDER six feet tall, just like all the leading men in Hollywood!
Don't know. You think? I just assume they are until I hear otherwise.
I know she has visited with the troops, but I think I heard she was conservative beyond that. I don't know for sure, though. I do know that she produces her new series Ghost Whisperer, and it has a pretty strong moral center. There was an episode last week about unplanned teenage pregnancies, and the abortion option never even came up.
