Thank you, timpad, for the troll info. I had a blast reading all of the posts....And, I have yet another question: If all of you are so good at troll mocking, and all of you seem to genuinely enjoy it, why would the mods ban trolls, or selectively ban trolls, at all? It seems like great sport to me.

It's pretty much a waste of bandwidth.

why would the mods ban trolls, or selectively ban trolls, at all? It seems like great sport to me.

There are many theories on that topic. The first holds that, since the purpose of FR as stated by its founder is other than providing great sport for the VKS and RKBA, allowing more than a token Troll count distracts from the mission.

Another cites the extreme danger inherent in encouraging Viking Kitten weapon development. The consequences of a Kitten-Troll arms race are too terrible to contemplate. So, the Mods strike down the more vacuous Trolls to avoid rousing the Kittens to create plasma weapons.

The theory that I personally subscribe to is that the Mods want to strike a balance between the daily work advancing the agenda and the absolute laugh-out-loud enjoyment of Troll tormenting. An imbalance creates either little gray FReepers who drone endlessly on CREVO threads, or heavily armed reactionaries who live for ozone. It's a better forum for the balance, IMHO.

Pair up the tubes. One as an emitter, one as a receiver. We can work out an addressing scheme using a generational algorithm like they do with coming up for new transistor routes in computer chips. We'd be able to pull in full EM-spectrum data and project it right back out the other side. Or, we could use the CompCentCore to cover the canopy in yellow and green paisleys. Or we could try and focus all of the energy output of each nanotube/waveguide on one target spot and see if we can hit lasing energy densities...

So far, we've only had two emergency room trips: a broken arm and a not-quite-severed fingertip. I figure we're not doing too badly, considering we have four little darlings.

We use a lot of stuff from Abeka. We get our English, Vocabulary, Science/Biology/Chemistry, Literature studies, and History from them. We've been using a program called Writing Strands for creative writing for years now... With math, we use a program called VideoText Interactive. It's a series of videos with computer-generated layouts and graphs of math problems... it's really great. I like it a lot; it makes complex math really simple. (I'm getting done with Algebra 2 right now.)

Abeka's math program is really top-notch for kids up to about 3rd/4th grade. At that point, we switched to a harder math program because I've got a knack for math. I dislike math, but I'm good at it. Gah. >_<

We use a lot of ABeka stuff, too. Their materials are so wonderfully thorough. We use the Writing Strands, too.

I've been using The Well-Trained Mind model of homeschooling, and, according to that book, we'll need to switch our oldest child over to Saxon Math after he completes ABeka's 6th grade math (by the end of this year). Where might I find more information about the math program that you are using?
