The upper classes throughout history have always had adulterous affairs. They had "leisure" time and resources not available to the peasants. With the rise of living standards, this is no suprise.

But a major factor is the easy availability of cheap and plentiful Internet pornography. This is nothing more than baseless speculation on the part of the author, unless he/she has statistical evidence that shows a marked increase in adultery after the Internet became readily available to most Americans.
