The way I use it with my employer has nothing to do with weather. I just picked up the storm tracking thing when I saw some great dynamic data layers just as Katrina was hitting Florida.
Darn, I'm cubicle bound. My son is up in State College, PA where Bastardi is based. He said the accuweather guy gets a lot of respect up there. Penn State supposedly has one of the best meteorology programs in the county.
Allison was in 2001. Did a similar kind of dipsy-doodle and then stalled over Houston long enough to dump up to 40 inches of rain in places.
And then there was Allison in 1989 that did a dipsey-doodle and dumped a bunch of rain - but not as much as Allison.
Confused yet?
Considering that my preferred weapon is the pistol, I can agree with that.

FINALLY! [Kathryn Jean Lopez]
Watching the cable channels you couldn't help but notice a mess of traffic on one side and empty lanes on the others.
"A Texas-connected government dude tells me that's changing:
You watching all this traffic on tv? Looks miserable. Weve been on the phone all day. Looks like things are finally starting to open up. They have all lanes outbound in some parts now, and things are speeding up. Long way to go, though."

There needs to be hell to pay for that in those uncooperative pissant counties. I can understand the troubles west of Brenham, and perhaps Hempstead, where the limited access highways turn into at grade highways. But that should have been identified years ago as unable to be implemented into contraflow. Just doing contraflow to the Hempstead split would make a big difference. An issue emerging is that the Houston area is NOT getting the cooperation needed from some other areas that was set forth in the plan. Of course nothing at this scale is going to go without hitches, and most of the inland municipalities have gone way out of the way to help out. And the media are already trying to whip up a hysteria over the gas situation. But I'm hearing more and more that some central TX municipalities are dropping the ball.
No one planned on everyone from Houston leaving at the same time with 3 cars per family!
I am out of it for now we are about to leave the house to meet my folks to head out together. God Bless us all. TXBSAFH (Texas Bastard System Admin From Hell) Out.
Well, I do appreciate the work you do on these threads.
Guess what the political affiliations of most of those are. :-P
Good luck, Godspeed, and stay safe.
Accuweather is good with Pennsylvania-style weather. And I seem to recall Bastardi being pretty good with winter weather.
I know what you mean. It's even worse when you start getting away from the Coast, no gulf breezes to help. I practically suffocate when I visit relatives in Vicksburg.
No you are getting subtle revenge and isn't it sweet? The only other thing you need to do is feed the grandkids something really sugary just before the parents pick them up.

The wall is closed again. Looks like we're down to one. The next few fixes should start finding stronger winds, and falling pressure.

Not good.
This looking like it's heading into the thickest rig area in the gulf...
Can Mars take another hit like this??
And it looks like aBullseye for BRUTUS?
Firearms recommendations are like discussing religion or politics- a good way to get an endless argument going- but-- for what my 2 cents is worth?
I prefer each family member to have at least a sidearm ( because it can always be with you ) and a long arm, such as a shotgun, for close range, or a rifle for longer range.
And to be a further iconoclast, for people who aren't all that familiar with firearms, I prefer a revolver over automatics, because they are simpler to use and understand-- you point it, and make a fist.
not what we wanted to hear...
