Extremely dangerous Category 5 Hurricane Rita continues to threaten the Greater Houston Metropolitan area. The forecast track has shifted slightly to the northeast, increasing the risk to Southwest Louisiana, and a significant portion of the oil and gas operations in the Gulf of Mexico. Texas Governor Perry is urging all coastal residents between Beaumont and Corpus Christi to evacuate as soon as possible.

EXCELLENT RADAR PRESENTATION
Looks like we still have two eyewalls...but that the inner wall is opening up further. Satellite presentation continues to improve, and the pressure has dropped two millibars from its high earlier today.
TXCN: Presser: 290 is NOT going to be changed to contraflow, because they are still trying to get emergency and other vehicles in and need one inbound road. 45 is going contraflow for most of its length.
Loser.
Full Disclosure: Who's the first one who will make a joke about getting a "Storm Surge" everytime they see Stephanie on The Weather Channel?
That's what grandma's are supposed to do! (It must be a law....somewhere.)
I'm the one they always ask for everything because they know I am such a sucker.
But they are on to me big time; putting in the house the other day, when it was "my turn," V says to me, "And just stand there, don't go back over there and sit down at that computer."
Nailed me at four.
Mandatory evacuation for Victoria has been lifted. Yee ha! Changed to voluntary evacuation. Lots of people must have left, there are no traffic noises here - very weird.
Other thing that is important -- however -- is mineral water. Drinking distilled water in extreme heat, if people are perspiring a lot, can cause heart issues. Either take minerals or add some raw apple cider vinegar to the drinking water.. or drink propel... along with water.
I think he was defending you.
"Personally, I don't know why out city doesn't invest in solar"
Because you wouldn't pay the the $.25 per kilowatt that it costs?
They got both sides of the freeway open finally in Houston. Contra-flow.
Winds are back up to 133kt from 122.
no no no no no!!!
I don't do offroad but I haul alot of stuff. My baby's joints and rods are good enough for me!! :)
"(I just wish the media would show the whole conference instead of cutting away for some chat show)."
My pet peeve is when the anchorette insists on talking over the first minute of a briefing or news conference. (The Fox bimbettes are especially bad at this..) Quite often, ya never do get any of the important information.
Whining caller on Fox......heaven forbid they talk to someone with something positive to say. grrrrrrrrrr
Are they blocking the exits off the freeway? Do people just have to keep driving, or can they get off where they need to?
Depends on what she is wearing and if she is all wet.
